I was making chocolate chip cookies for my husband, and.... you guessed it. ate some of the raw dough. Now i'm paying for it. My stomach is gurgling like crazy, it feels very heavy and like there's a ball in the middle of it just swinging around and around. What can I do for some quick relief?

Ouch.
Boy, do I sympathize with you! That kind of temptation is just too difficult for anyone; it's more than a person should have to tolerate. I am SOOOOOO sorry for you. And do I ever know what you're going through, oh yeah!
Do you have any Equalactin? Actually, now it's really too late for that. You need an antispasmodic. Got any of Heather's peppermint caps? No? Okay, how about Hyoscyamine? No? Gee, what about the Big Guns (Donnatal)? I wouldn't normally recommend it, but for an emergency, it's a Godsend.
I know this isn't gonna help you at the moment, but after this attack passes, I think it will: the pain you're experiencing will serve to help keep you from ever doing it again. Truly, the next time you look at a chocolate chip cookie, your tummy will start to rumble, the subconscious mind trying to keep you safe, remembering the pain that little bit of cookie dough did to you today -- and you'll pass on it.
My recommendation is the usual: soak in a hot bath, then curl up in bed with a heating pad on your tummy, some Ginger Aid tea and a trashy novel. Sleep it off, Girlfriend.
Feel better soon.
Bev

Hasn't basically everyone been through the "I just couldn't stand it, I had to have some" dilemma??? Maybe that's something we all have to go through in order to get healthy.

you know what the hardest part of this all is? They're not even all done baking yet. I just finally put the last of the dough into the oven. It takes a really long time to bake cookies when you only have one cookie sheet. Oh the toils of being a newlywed!
I have some spaghetti (sp?) cooking on the stove right now and it's a good thing I went to the grocery store today, I have a fresh loaf of french bread sitting in my bread box just waiting to be eaten. I'll mix some acacia in with supper, put the teakettle on for some peppermint tea on the side and hopefully enjoy my supper.

Well, Rosie, if it was me, I'd take an Imodium. I have discovered through trial and error over the last year that I can't wait til the D strikes, I have to take one at the very littlest grumble.
Also, taking your SFS and eating a piece of French bread now might help settle things down. And the peppermint tea is a great idea. Enjoy your pasta.
And by the way, I've been there done that with the cookie dough. That was one of my episodes last fall before I got stable again. I just don't bake cookies anymore! Andy gets tins of free Mrs Fields at work -- I can't compete with that even if I wanted to!!

Do you mix your SFS into your food or have it separately (like mixed in a beverage) before the meal?
RosieChica, I seem to have no willpower whatsoever!!! It's like as soon as I feel "normal," I ruin it by eating like a normal person!

Over teh 4th of July I felt just a little too good and had a half of a frozen margarita- bam-zap-zowie! Well I'll never do that again. I've begun to think of it as an allergy- but instead of hives or hayfever it's the dreaded "D"

I sympathize completely!
Ginger and peppermint are both good for stomach pain, settling the stomach, overeating, etc. If you have those teas, that helps. If you have those essential oils, even better. Before I knew I had IBS-D, I used to use one drop of each oil, mixed with a tiny bit of honey or stevia, in hot water.
Also, don't forget things like a hot wrap or heating pad around your tummy. That can often help a lot.
Hope that helps.
