Hi folks, In the past few months, eversince I started taking fiber supplements, I've noticed that often I have difficulty breathing: it's like i have to force air deep into my lungs. At times, I feel almost panicky, and I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas? I have a doc appointment for next month (they have cancelled 4 times on me, kind of feeling frustrated) and plan on asking her, but in the meantime, just wondered if anyone has had this sensation? I have cut out all snythetic supplements and have just been trying flax seed in the morning but I'm still getting that shortness of breath feeling. For folks who have gastritis, could this just be that? Thanks in advance for you suggestions.

Hi, I have breathing problems sometimes too, but its related to panic.Sometimes when im having a "Panicky" moment, my throat sorof like closes up on me, and its hard to breathe. Luckily, through deep breathing and relaxation ive learned to quickly go back to normal when im having one one of those unpleasant moments. Im not sure if breathing would be gastritis related, but i guess it could be, im not really sure.

I have gastritis and have not experienced this. Not sure if it could be a gallbladder issue though? Hope you get some answers!

Michelle, why would you think it could be caused by gallbladder?

I've never had it happen while taking the supplements, but I did have it happen to me last summer. Most of the time, the feeling was minor, but three other times is was a major full-blown (what I believe) panic attack. I literally thought I was about to stop breathing and just die. After numerous tests, I still don't know what it was from. Personally, I have a feeling it had something to do with either the hot & humid weather, allergies, or both and progressed into a panic attack. I just had a regular doc appt. yesterday, and I asked him to recommend an allergist for me. I'm hoping I may get some answers there.
I don't know if this helped or not, but good luck to you anyway....

Angela - I know last summer when I had my problems, one of my tests was a pulmonary function test, and after that came back ok, they sent me to have my gallbladder checked, because the doc told me that the gallbladder acting up could mimic an asthma attack, or something like that.
