I have started my drinking for my procedure tomorrow. 10oz of the nitrate stuff, 2 dulcalax, THEN the gallon. :-( Guys I am having problems with the 10oz, i dont know how I'm going to do the gallon! I need some encouraging words!

I know... it's been a long time since I did the prep, I was in high school and I still remember the feeling. Hope you are doing well, good luck tomorrow.

Oh yeah. Fun and games. This is the worst part of the entire procedure.
Look at it this way: you want your colon CLEANED OUT when they go up there with the camera. Right? RIGHT! So just down it. You can hold your nose as you're swallowing (while thinking of happy thoughts of other things besides what's going down your throat), then follow it up immediately with a glass of lemonade.
Just remember: "Clean The Colon!" You want to do this.
Bev
P.S.: Enjoy tomorrow. Those drugs are FABULOUS! I SOOOO enjoyed my experience.....

Hey, good luck tomorrow! I haven't had a colonoscopy, but I did have a lower GI done recently and I also had to drink a lot of nasty stuff, but I also had to give myself 3 enemas. It was so disgusting and I was so emotional throughout the whole thing. I am 22 and I just felt like I should not have to be doing this stuff! Anyway, my thoughts are with you, I hope it goes well.

Ahhh!!! You'll be ok. Besides running back and forth to the bathroom, it's not painful or anything. Just an inconvenience. This is the worst part. The procedure is nothing. I agree with Bev---I enjoyed the drugs my doctor gave me. I was at the hospital talking to a nurse, and the next thing I remember I was asking her when they were going to begin the procedure. She laughed and said, "Honey, we're finished!" I couldn't believe it! I thought she was joking. I didn't remember I thing. Kind of scary that someone can do that to you and you not remember it, isn't it? Oh well, on the drive home, my friend said I talked her head off (I don't remember that either.) I came home, took a little nap, and felt fine after that.) IT's a piece of cake!!!!!!!!!!! I'm a wimp. If I can do it that easily, you can. Good luck--and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for all the kind words guys.
I am 2 glasses in to the gallon (already done the magnesium and the 2 laxatives) and I'm throwing up. Called my GI, they are calling me back. UGH

Hello,
Could you take some Gravol? If you can, ask your doctor about this when they call you back. That helped me get through the prep...I was throwing up too
My doc also said that quite often you'll get completely cleaned out without doing the whole prep (I couldn't get it all down) so hopefully even if you're having trouble you'll get enough into you to take care of business (so to speak)
Good luck! Kelly
