Guess what, I thought I was soo sick I'd never drink again. I went out on Saturday night (forced my sickly self) and I drank 3 beers and had a blast. I felt great all night till I hit the pillow. Then I could feel the twitching intestines and that god aweful bubbly, gassy, noisey feeling. BUT, I was ok. So, if I can drink again, you can too! Just get yourself in the mood to and don't look back.

. . . plan ahead. If you know you are going to go out and have a beer, first take an Equalactin, then some French bread or sourdough, something in the way of a soluble fiber, to "cushion the blow." Then have the beer -- ONE beer. You could even have another slice of sourdough afterwards.

That's what I do with my Jack. And I'm fine all nite long.

So you don't have to deny yourself ALL booze, just do it with a little beforehand planning.

Bev

Bev, When I do break down and have some JD, I forget to do the bread thing. Sourdough of course ! Stress, fatigue, pain... these are the things that send me for a little visit with my friend JD. I know a lady that calls it her "Medicine" She is in her mid 80's and still taking her fav med!

not everyone has the same symptoms here! please don't assume what works for one of us will work for another...

i can drink (and do. oh boy i do!) but i know there are quite a few people on these boards who need to stay far, far away, no matter what precautions they take. in fact, i can't tolerate beer at all. my worst attack in over a year was from beer.

i'm not "yelling" at anyone here- just warning everyone. if you're trying something new take it very very slowly and see how it goes.

and remember- just because something works once doesn't mean you can always get away with it.

take it from someone who has learned the hard way!
