hello to everyone on here. I've enjoyed this message board alot.. You all have very good ideas and questions.. It does really help to know other people who have this stupid IBS, too. I wouldn't wish IBS on my worst enemy. thanks!

Glad you decided to jump in. That's the best way to do it. You will probably see me snooping around and butting-in a lot.
This is a great place and so is the living room. There is so much help, advice and sometimes just plain old fun.
I agree. I wouldn't wish IBS on my worst enemy either. I feel like a food detective and I read labels on everything I use. I guess I have gotten used to it because I have had IBS for about 10 yrs. Sometimes I can cheat and eat something like Pizza (which I did the other day) with no problem and sometimes it would cause a big IBS attack. UGH!
How about you? What is your IBS story?

HA-HA (sorry ,not so funny) now here i am all these yrs. later after gallblader surgery ,mother died, kids are adults, (1 in college to go) and now i find heather's cookbook ,etc.. and i am thrilled to find all this help.. how about you?

I've had IBS for about 10 years. It seems like it came on right about the time of menopause. This site has been so great and helped me so much. I thought I was suffering alone. Didn't know so many people had IBS. There is so much support here that I check in everyday even if I feel good just to see what is going on and see if I can help someone else.
My husband and I have 2 grown sons and a "spoiled rotten" golden retriever and I will be a granny in November.
You sound a lot like me because stress is a big IBS trigger for me, too. Happy you found this site and I hope it helps you as much as it has helped me.

I don't get aorund to this board too often, but I just thought that I'd say hi and welcome! I'm hoping that you got to see JenX's awesome welcome message to the newbies?
If you haven't already checked out the Living Room, come on over! It's where we chat about our lives outside of IBS and have a lot of fun, play some games, and jsut get to know each other better!
It's great to have you here, and I think (as you've already found) you're gonna get some fantastic support and advice here and remember to never feel embarassed about any question that you'd like to ask! We're glad you're here!

Talk to us, we want to offer help to you! Or, if there is any type of a problem that is stressing you to the point of having attacks and you need to vent or just write a really long post, go ahead. You will find out how many of us are in teh same boat. Hope you are feeling much better !

Since I've discovered this site, I've learned so much more (and believe me - I've had IBS-D on and off for about 20 years now). People are so supportive and it just feels good to know that you are not alone. I'm just a worrier and get easily anxious about everything - then BOOM! I eat the wrong thing and end us sick, sick, sick. I started a new position at a new high school this year, and although I LOVE my job, the change was enough to kick mine back into gear (enough to see a gastro dr. and get some tests run). Everything points back to IBS. People on this site have had a lot of good advice about what to eat and what not to. That has helped me a lot. I'm trying to gain about 10 pounds that I lost this year (can't eat dairy or anything fried, spicy, etc.) If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it. Barbie and some others on here have helped with suggestions, and I greatly appreciate it!! Good luck.

Barbie, It was so great reading your post to this thread. I thought I was the only one whose IBS really came on with menopause.. I've always had a "nervous stomach" around stressful times and my periods, but once I became estrogen deprived it hit a whole new level. It's nice to know I'm not alone with the menopause thing. This site has helped me a lot, too and I really feel that I am getting under control again. There is hope! S.

Hi & Welcome. Aren't the people on this board the best! I'm new also, although I read the boards for a few weeks before I actually posted. The information everyone gives is so helpful and it really does help to know that we are not alone.
Hope you have a good night & are feeling better.

Oh no, you're not alone, Girlfriend! Not by a long shot. I just got over menopause (thank God!) after having it for 21 years (I had "the" operation when I was 38). I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have it all over with; I didn't think it was ever going to happen.
Now if I can just kick this damn IBS thing.....

Nice to have some menopausal company - or peri- menopausal or post-menopausal or whereever. My husband says PMS stands for Practice for MenopauSe. Ain't it the truth. Love your company, S. Flashing in Vermont
