Since I've discovered this site, I've learned so much more (and believe me - I've had IBS-D on and off for about 20 years now). People are so supportive and it just feels good to know that you are not alone. I'm just a worrier and get easily anxious about everything - then BOOM! I eat the wrong thing and end us sick, sick, sick. I started a new position at a new high school this year, and although I LOVE my job, the change was enough to kick mine back into gear (enough to see a gastro dr. and get some tests run). Everything points back to IBS. People on this site have had a lot of good advice about what to eat and what not to. That has helped me a lot. I'm trying to gain about 10 pounds that I lost this year (can't eat dairy or anything fried, spicy, etc.) If you have any advice, I'd love to hear it. Barbie and some others on here have helped with suggestions, and I greatly appreciate it!! Good luck.

Barbie, It was so great reading your post to this thread. I thought I was the only one whose IBS really came on with menopause.. I've always had a "nervous stomach" around stressful times and my periods, but once I became estrogen deprived it hit a whole new level. It's nice to know I'm not alone with the menopause thing. This site has helped me a lot, too and I really feel that I am getting under control again. There is hope! S.

Hi & Welcome. Aren't the people on this board the best! I'm new also, although I read the boards for a few weeks before I actually posted. The information everyone gives is so helpful and it really does help to know that we are not alone.
Hope you have a good night & are feeling better.

Oh no, you're not alone, Girlfriend! Not by a long shot. I just got over menopause (thank God!) after having it for 21 years (I had "the" operation when I was 38). I can't tell you how wonderful it is to have it all over with; I didn't think it was ever going to happen.
Now if I can just kick this damn IBS thing.....

Nice to have some menopausal company - or peri- menopausal or post-menopausal or whereever. My husband says PMS stands for Practice for MenopauSe. Ain't it the truth. Love your company, S. Flashing in Vermont
