Hi Everyone,
Well, I have a doctors appointment this Monday and after all I've learned here its pretty obvious that a soluble fiber supplement is a necessity.
Anyway, I want to discuss it with my doctor as well but was hoping that someone could recommend the best one for my symptoms, as I don't know if certain ones are better for different types of IBS. I know Acacia is probably the most liked by everyone here, but I want to buy one from my pharmacy first and then maybe switch once I see if it helps me.

Anyway, my main symptoms are bloating, pain and constipation.
I'm currenly taking Zelnorm - I have been on it for a month now.

Thank you SO MUCH for all your help and all the positive vibes that you all exude!!!!

You have to get Acacia from Heather; you won't find it at your pharmacy. It's really just a matter of personal preference. I've tried Fibercon, Citrucel, Acacia, and Benefiber. (And of COURSE Equalactin!)

The easiest of all is Benefiber because it dissolves INSTANTLY, has no taste, doesn't get thick -- it's perfect. And now it's available in a chewable tablet form, so you don't even need water.

Cost-wise, I don't think you can do better than the Acacia. And Heather's working on a system whereby she will soon be able to ship out to everyone who uses it on a regular basis, so that you never run out of it.

By the way, your doc won't know about Acacia (mine didn't). My GI pushed Citrucel. It's a matter of trial-and-error, really. Try one and see how your tummy likes it. I think Mags likes Citrucel; I like Benefiber. Most here like Acacia.

Thank you SO MUCH Bev & Shelby
I really value and appreciate all your suggestions and advice. I think I might start off with the Benefiber and see how that goes...hopefully this will do the trick in helping me feel better.
Thanks again ladies!

Hi,

I think the Benefiber tablets contain sorbitol which is a trigger for IBS.

I have been having good results with the Benefiber and it is nice that is completely dissolves. I can't get it to dissolve very well in cranberry juice though. I just can't take the grittiness of some of the brands.

Hope you find some relief!

Valerie

I had bought my Acacia powder at a pharmacy! I called all the ones in my town until I found someone who carried it.

Good luck.

I had talked to someone in Zellers that had told me before that they could order it in for me but I live on Vancouver Island and just buy it from a pharmacy by my house. I was also able to buy some at Walmart.

I pay about $36.00 for a bottle that usually lasted me 3 weeks and I took 3-tablespoons a day. (Pharmacay by my house).

You just have to call around and see who has it or can order it in.
