Hi, I've searched throughout the message boards and IBS sufferers tend to have lower abdominal pain. For the past few days, I've been having upper abdominal pain - right in the center at the base of my ribs. Peppermint tea has helped a bit but it returns after a while. Has anyone else had pain there? I think from looking at diagrams that it's where the stomach is.

I used to have upper abdominal pain, and then i was diagnosed with acid reflux disease. I would def. get an upper endoscopy.

Yes, I get upper abdominal pain, too. It's when I have a lot of gas that's blocked. It's sometimes so bad I am doubling over in pain. Lying down helps, and... of course ... passing the gas. Peppermint tea works, and fennel tea is also good for bloating. If you find the pain eases after passing gas, maybe try the fennel.

It defintiely could be gas, but if it continues or worsens you may need to get your actual stomach checked out - (endoscope). Turned out I had gastritis, for others it's an ulcer - not IBS related necessarily and can require medication to improve.

Be well!
