Bev and anyone else who uses equalactin...(m)

I just ordered some on Drugstore.com. How often do you take it? Do you use it like fiber supplements? I pop those throughout the day. (Fibercon) Does it help with the urgency? I almost had to run out of a kid's haircut place this morning b/c I had to go so bad.( My son was getting his hair cut). I felt bad b/c he wanted to play after he got his hair cut and I just couldn't stay and didn't want to use the bathroom there. Sometimes I try to tell myself it's all in my mind that I have to go...but when I got home, that certainly wasn't all in my mind!!!

i use it when i feel an ucky attack coming on. i chew up two and have a glass of water, then i have my hycosamine. usually stops stuff in its tracks fairly well and quickly.

i also keep it on hand to take before a meal that may not have enough of a soluble fiber base.

i definitely don't take it once a day. it's more of an emergency thing...

Hi Sandy,

Yes and no. If you feel the rumblings coming on, take it immediately. It's always helped me.

However, if you're in the middle of a D attack, I don't think it's gonna help much; it's too late. For example, the other day in the fabric store I had a very sudden, unexpected D attack INSTANTLY! WOW, I had to RUN! I barely made it to the bathroom in time. It hit again just a few minutes later. While sitting on the pot, I reached for my meds in my "medicine cabinet" in my purse, only to discover I was out of Lomotil and Immodium. All I had was the Equalactin. I took one, but it was too late. I made it from the fabric store down to the lake where (thankfully) there was a public bathroom and I had my third attack. Then I was able to make it all the way back home. I doubt that the Equalactin helped much -- but who knows?

Why didn't you want to go to the bathroom at the hair salon? Their bathrooms are usually pretty clean, especially since customers need to use them -- all people who get manicures for instance. I've gone at my hair salon many times.

I don't take Equalactin regularly, just "as needed" -- for a "security blanket," when I anticipate a stressful social event coming up or whenever I feel rumblings down below... It's real convenient; like I said, I was sitting on the pot at the fabric store, and just reached in my purse, grabbed a tablet and chewed it up right on the pot!

I know what you mean about thinking it's all in your mind. To some extent, it really is. Your conscious mind is telling your subconscious negative messages, like "OMG, what if I have to go the bathroom!?" So pretty soon your subconscious gets the message loud and clear, and guess what? You have to poop.

Have you considered Michael's hypnotherapy? I think it would help you. No, I KNOW it would help you. It sure helped me! There was a time when I couldn't leave the confines of this tiny condo, not even to go out for a walk! And now look at me. Okay, so sometimes I get those rumblings. That's when I turn to the Equalactin. I'm on the road, driving down to the new property, and my mind starts remembering the old panic attacks, and pretty soon my subconscious gets the message, and guess what .... rumblings. I pull off the road, reach for that little emergency "medicine cabinet" in my purse, grab an Equalactin, chew it up, and in seconds I'm fine. This has happened to me numerous times, and Equalactin has worked for me each and every one of them.

I should get a commission from the manufacturer of this stuff.....

I got mine at Rite-Aid Drugs (but I had to ask the pharmacist to order it for me). Several people in the Boards here got theirs at WalMart Pharmacy. You can also get it online: Equalactin

Keep trying -- it's worth it!

If so, I'm going to order it since I can't get it locally.

Right now, it seems I get attacks when I DON'T eat on a regualar basis. When home I can take acacia and that helps until I eat. But would Equalatin do the same if I'm out?

Any "C's" using it?
