Uh oh! I just had a roll with chickpea and black olive pate (part of my new eat-for-energy-kick) and my tummy's doing things! Was this a really bad idea? I figured that mushed up chickpeas couldn't be too bad, but was I wrong? Gonna go get some Chamomile tea!

Chickpeas and I don't agree, but I thought it was just me. Since I'm a vegetarian (because any type of meat was making me sick for awhile when my IBS started), my parents were on me to eat more protein, so I tried eating hummus and other chickpea stuff, and got horribly sick. I don't know if it was a bad idea for you or not.....but I avoid them like the plague!

Linz,
I have the same reaction to them. I figured it was probably because they are so high in fiber?? Hope you feel better soon. Frustrating, when you were so trying to do something good for yourself.

They're beans so they have that raffinose fiber. If you're used to beans they shouldn't be a problem, but if not, they cause gas and cramps. Do you have Bean-o in the UK?

I eat them all the time without any problems! They are high in insolubale fiber so if you didn't have enough soluable fiber with it, it might cause problems. Its kinda like soy, the more you eat it the more enzymes your body produces to digest it easier! Try taking some Beano or digestive enzymes before you eat them next time!
