I actually had pretty bad cramps when I was younger, and I have experimented with lots of different brands of birthcontrol. I currently take mircette, and mircette has very low amounts of estrogen. It has helped with my cramps so far, so maybe it will work for you. i have not noticed that it has had any effect on my ibs.

I take the generic brand of Mircette and I haven't noticed it to affect my IBS either.

Hey, I just recently switched to the patch. I was taking Ortho-tricyclen for over 4 years and was wondering if the patch would help my IBS since it doesn't go through the digestive tract.

So far I haven't noticed much difference. Although, not having to remember to take the pill is nice. Also, it is a lowe dose of hormones. If you decide to stay on the pill, you can get Ortho-tricyclen "low", which is the same amount as the patch.

I'll keep you posted if I notice any major change.

Ortho Evra patch is wonderful! I've been on it for almost two years (i think ). It has been the only BC that hasn't completely screwed me up. It's so easy to use, and you don't have to remember it every day like the pill! The only downside is that it gets a dirt ring around it, no matter how clean you are. It doesn't bother me, but some people put it on their butt so that it is not visible while wearing a bathing suit. I'd rather have it on my back!
Good luck!

Are you thinking of prescription Naproxen? Yes, that is very good stuff. I don't know anything about its tummy effects -- the only time I ever took it regularly was before ibs.

I definitely am going to talk to my doctor about this - it sounds like the way to go with IBS. Do you notice if it helps with cramps at all though?? Thats really my main reason that I want to get on birth control! Thanks for all your help!
