Hi everyone,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I have been away for awhile. I have always had IBS-D but I decided to try wheatgerm in my oatmeal for breakfast and now I am finding that I am IBS-C. Grrr... I have tried drinking more water during the day but then I get stomach cramps. As well I seem to be getting more intestinal sounds, it is quite embarassing in a room of people. I have picked up Phasyme for gas and Sisu acidophilus. Any suggestions? Thanks a bunch.

The wheat germ should be treated as an insoluble fibre - be careful. It is likely causing the bloating and cramps. Constipation occurs when the colon is overstimulated and shuts down - usually due to too many triggers and not enough soluble fibre. Increase the soluble fibre in your diet. Are you on a fibre supplement? That may help to stabilize you, too.

Thanks for that info. What fibre would you recommend? I have read so much about Acacia and equalactin? I am confused as to which one to try. I don't think we can get those in Canada either.
