Olga, soy is a bean so it does produce gas sometimes. Have you been drinking soy milk or using any other soy products? Because if you're just starting out it's best to slowly ease into it. Maybe drink one glass of soy milk and a day and slowly start adding other soy products. That should help reduce the amount of gas you're getting. I eat a ton of soy now and it doesn't bother me at all. I hope that helps!

anything "soy" is actually from the soybean. soybean. ya know the way beans can getcha!? same thing with soybeans. tofu, of course, is made from soybeans.

i ate way too much soy right at the beginning of this diet. then i got REAL painful and gassy. i quit for a few days, waited 'til stuff settled down, then started again slowly. i've been fine ever since.

sometimes, if we're unfamilar with something like this, our bodies have a hard time creating the enzymes to break the food down properly (or at least that's my understanding of it). if you take too much in, the body just can't deal. if you go slowly, the body learns to accomodate the new demands.

but.... (always a "but" huh!?) but..... some people just can't handle the soybeans at all. just like some people can't eat other kinds of beans. i can tolerate black beans (thank goodness! i don't know what i'd do without 'em!), but just the idea of black beans would make some people's IBS flare up!

try Bean-o. i bet that might help! if you find you can't tolerate soy products at all, there are rice products that replace a lot of the dairy (cheeses, milk...), so you could always try that. rice is so benign it's rare to have trouble digesting that (from what i have read).
