I've been reading a lot of posts complaining about Gas. I'm also experiencing this. I assumed it was from all of the soluble fiber we need to eat to keep our tummies stable. Is there anything we can do besides GasX or Beano? Let me know if ya'll have tried any other remedies. Thanks !

Charcoal tablets help alot with gas, as does ginger tea. Try those, hopefully they should help!

Wac - try using the SEARCH button. The strings that come up should be helpful. My terrible gas was from taking too much vit C (500 mg)at one sitting and from eating too much insoluble fiber. Hope this helps.

Hi,

I had several really bad bouts of gas earlier this year and got the idea that it was being caused by honey. Thinking that didn't make sense, I used an Internet search engine and found articles referring to problems some people have digesting fructose.

Today I've just read a message from Heather, on another thread, mentioning that dried fruit can cause problems for some people because of the concentrated levels of fructose.

I don't think it is necessary for me to avoid fructose altogether, but, like lactose, it is necessary to find a safe level.

To put the fructose levels into some sort of perspective, a banana is about 10% fructose, where as honey is around 40%.

Food for thought!

Ian

Ian - did your gas subside after not eating so much honey?

Sharon,

Yes it did, but it took about 3 days to settle down.

Ian - isn't it great that we can be our own Private Eyes?

Glad the gas stopped. If you read previous posts on gas, you know the problems I had--especially w/my husband sleeping in another room! Thank goodness Heather came to my rescue.

Sharon - please help. Your gas SUBSIDED? How? What did you do? I don't think it's anything I eat. The only really fiber rich food I eat is oatmeal in the am (with Benefiber) but I take Beano with that. Today I had the cinammon zuchini bread (Heather's recipe) for snack, a turkey sandwich on french bread with mustard only for lunch, and plain Tostitos for snack (no dinner yet) and I'm gassy already. It seems to always happen at the same time (around 2:30-3:00 pm). What can it be.
