Aspartame Poisoning

I received an e-mail yesterday from my office about this, thought I would share. I don't use them myself but i've seen some of you do...
In Oct of 01 my sister started getting very sick. She had stomach spasms and having a hard time getting around. Walking was a chore. It took everything to get out of bed. By March 02 she had undergone tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 RX meds. They did not know what was wrong with her. She just knew she was dying she put her house her bank accts etc. in her daughters name to make sure the younger ones were taken care of. She wanted a last hoorah she planned a trip to FL. in a wheelchair for MArch 22. I called to check on her she said they did not find anything with her blood work. Someone e-mailed me and asked if she drank diet sodas. She did. i told my sister not to drink another one. My sister called 32 hours later after stopping the diet soda, she could walk. The spasms went away, she felt alot better. She went to her doctor and brought the e-mail about this to them. She called me after she returned home. The Dr. was amazed and she was going to call her patients with MS to see if they drank these. In a nutshell she was being poisoned by Aspartame and literally dying from it. She did go to Fl. no wheelchair nothing!!!

In 01 it was the USA had a epidemic of MS and Lupus. This also implys that people with Fibro. spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo and dizziness, tinnitus, headaches, joint pain, unexplained depression, anxiety attacks, you could have aspartame poisoning. These products contain formaldehyde!!!. A book is out about this Excitoxins: The taste that kills by Dr Russell Blayblock.
I shortened this e-mail but I hope you all get it with what I have posted. Like I said I received this in a e-mail .
I'm not trying to scare anyone but I do think everyone should have the opp. to discuss and decide if this stuff is causing them additional problems sometimes life threatning.
It's called Methanol toxicity
This means nutra-sweet, equal, and spoonful!!!!!!!!
Stevia is safe it's a sweet herb.
Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi !!!!

This email has been around for YEARS. I've gotten it at least 5 times over the last couple of years. I don't know if its true or not, I tend not to believe it because it's been showing up in my email box along with all my other junk mail.

My sister has MS and she also got this email (from my dad) and she stopped all asparteme and it didn't do a thing to relieve her symptoms. Se brought it up on an MS message board and no one there had had any luck with symptom relief either. Just FYI.

On one MVP website there is a guy who seems pretty knowledgeable on these things and he believes that it is to be avoided at all costs. But then there is also someone else who says she's done research on it and believes it to be totally natural. So go figure! I'm staying away from it but only because its in carbonated diet drinks and I don't drink carbonation any more.

wow - you're right, the reviews were pretty interesting. Not enough to make me buy the book but enough to make me think about things alot more. Since I have allergies to yeast, malt, and vinegar (found in soooo many processed foods) I do not buy many processed things at the store and do not eat out much (the risk of accidently eating hidden allergens keeps me from enjoying eating out any more)...so maybe cutting all that out and eating just home prepared foods makes even more sense now. MSG has always made me sick, it gives me one heck of a headache.

The email is a hoax.

The original text of this hoax was written in 1995. There is NO medical evidence to prove the allegations.

Now I certainly don't recommend you all start drinking diet pop again, but I do recommend you be a bit more suspicious about suspicious-sounding email! :) The word "gullible" is not in the dictionary either!!
