Hey all. This may be a long one so get comfy. I've been really stable for about 2 weeks now. I've been feeling gassy but I can handle that. Yesterday I had my normal days' worth of food. Breakfast - oatmeal with Benefiber made with water. Snack - pumpkin apple spice bread (Heather's fabulous recipe) Lunch - turkey sandwick on french with mustard snack - rice krispie treat (Heather's recipe) Dinner - egg white omelet with parsley and onions, two fat free tortillas late snack - baked tostitos. About 2 AM I was awakened with THE PAIN! I paced, I drank tea, I took Fibercon then spent 1 hour and a half in the library (I mean bathrrom!). Of course afterward I couldn't sleep so I got the heating pad and watched a movie until I feel asleep. Alarm clock went off at 5AM. I threw it and slept until 7 when I got up and had D again - so I called work and told them I'd be in at 11:30 (1/2 day for a teacher). Now what in the world made me sick???????? Did I forget that I also have the lovely monthly visitor? That's it right? Am I going to get sick again this month or do you find it happens once at the beginning and is gone? Help!

Hi
The only thing I can see from your diet description was the rice crispy squares. I found that I can't tolerate them, as the marshmallows are made from corn syrup. It is unclear whether or not this is the high-fructose corn syrup or not. You'd have to check the label. Though even then the regular corn syrup marshmallows did not agree with me. The other thing I notice is, if I don't eat 25 g of fibre every day, then I get D. the next day. And during my period, the only thing that somewhat helps me to avert the gaurantee of D. is to take digestive enzymes before each meal, and get lots of exercise.
Good Luck
Kris

Hi,
Sorry to hear about your bad night. I have had that same experience and you wonder why is this happening to me? - I didn't eat any "bad" foods.

Unfortunately, I think sometimes an attack can come on regardless. Maybe because of stress, hormones (as you mentioned!) or maybe just our body going haywire. It's so frustrating because you are trying so hard to control it and then you feel completely out of control.

Fortunately, I find these occurences are pretty rare if you do watch your diet, de-stress etc. I guess we just have to dust ourselves off and keep going.

After something like that happens I usually stick to SF foods only for a day or two to settle myself back down.

Hope you're feeling better soon.
Kerrie

Marshmallows are a trigger for me, too. Didn't make the connection about the corn syrup, though - am still learning to read labels.

I too have found that marshmellows dont agree with me. I can hadle corn syrup in small amounts, but things like marshmellows are usually packed with the artificial sugar and makes me sick as a doggie

Wac - Wish I could chime in and help you along with everybody else, but I haven't had a monthly visitor in 25 years. Lucky me!!!

Hey Angela - what does "Rice" that is all...at the end of your posts mean? Am I being dense?

lol! Maybe its a teenage thing because my friends do that sortof thing all the time and i guess i just caught on to it. Usually when a person writes one word, its just like a statement thats supposed to have alot of meaning behind it. Rice is my favorite food and its my safest food. When i said my one word"rice" Im just making a statement that has a whole lot of meaning behind it. Me and rice have a long history together and my one word statement is just to represent how much i love it. lol- does that make any sense?
