IBS and Jury Duty

Hi all,
Just received my summons for Jury Duty. I admit, even if I didn't have IBS, I wouldn't want to serve on jury duty. BUT, because I do have IBS, is that a good enough medical excuse to get out of it?
When my IBS is under control, I am pretty functional. Lately, I've been having a lot of D, and it kind of stresses me to think that I might need to be running to the bathroom at a moment's notice while at the court house. I know I can take imodium as a precautionary measure, but do you think it is OK to have my doc say I can't serve for medical reasons?
What's your experience with this?

Absolutely it's a valid medical excuse. (Unless you live in NYC in Manhattan in which case only death is a valid excuse!!)

SOOOO sorry you got summoned. EW. If my answer isn't with all the others, my vote is to speak up! The judge will ask if there's any reason why you feel you can't serve, say yes! If you're embarrassed to speak out in front of the attorneys, just look the judge in the eyes, ignore everyone around you, and say you have a personal physical problem and would be glad to explain it to him (or his bailiff) in private.
I know I owe you an e-mail, and I promise I'll get it to you real soon. I'm spending WAAAAY too much time on these boards!
