Try "Always" feminine wipes instead. I was on Wet Ones for over 20 years, but they began to irritate my personal parts. (Can't have that!) I switched to Always, and now I have a happy -------. And, believe it or not, hubby uses them too. I told him they're "FEMININE" wipes, but he said he didn't care, his Preparation H Wipes are as irritating as Wet Ones, and the Always are not.
BTW, the plastic containers that the Always come in are fabulous. I keep them all for storage of sewing supplies, toolshop supplies, and stained glass supplies. They're perfect to hold small pieces of leftover stained glass, and I label the containers by color. I must have over 100 of them. Hubby keeps them with his tools and labels them "nails," "screws," "molly bolts," etc. They stack real well and look nice and neat.
Organization's the key! Oh yeah! I also have one for keys!
Oh, and about that Lanacaine. Do you like it better than Vasaline?

Actually I use Cottonelle wipes by Kleenex. I guess I just called them Wet Ones for short. But their plastic tub is actually refillable, so you'd have to find something else to organize your life with!
And yes I like Lanacaine better because it has an anesthetic in it, so it dulls the pain as well as soothes it. (gee, they should pay me to do commercials for them!)

Scully, you like Cottonelle better than Always? And you too, LS? BTW, WHERE do you find "refills"? No such thing up here! I love my plastic boxes -- very handy to have -- but they're comin' outta the whazzoo; I have boxes full of them! No refills available up here no way nohow.
Cottonelle, eh? Real gentle on your "parts"? Hmmm..... wonder if I can find refills of THEM up here?

So it must be getting obvious that I am a palm pilot NERD but I subscribe to Vindigo, which has a guide for almost every major city -- INCLUDING A LISTING OF PUBLIC BATHROOMS WITH RATINGS!! All I have to do is enter the cross streets of my current location and I can even get walking (or subway if applicable) directions to the nearest restrooms (as well as restaurants, museums, movie theaters, points of interest, random addresses, etc.) LOVE IT.

I'll pass along what I know. I don't use any myself but hubby does for his tender butt. I'm raiding his cabinet to look up the names. He takes lots of meds and has lots of diahhrea from it. He used to use the baby wipes which had something similar to alcohol in them along with something soothing and they made his little tush irritated, dry and itchy. His colon/butt doctor told him to try a few other products. A & D ointment after diahhrea (sort of like diaper rash ointment in the baby section of the store). Also Balneol which is over the counter but pharmacist may have to order (soothing perianal cleansing lotion). The latest is a prescription but he loves it. Took the itch completely away. It's called Trimincin/Acet 0.1% cream (generic for kenolog). Apply topically after BM & at bedtime.
What Do the Always feminine wipes have have on them, anything drying? Are they flushable. Hubby is still using those baby wipes to apply these creams but washing them before use to get the alcohol type drying stuff (whatever it is) out which is a PAIN IN THE BUTT!! Still searching for the perfect wipe.

GREAT info in here! I'm gonna see if I can't get some of that cream at Safeway. THANKS!!
"Always" wipes: you can find them at the drug store in the feminine product department. The ingredients: water, propylene glycol, PEG-75 Lanolin, Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate, Polysorbate 20, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, 2-Bromo-2-Nitropropane-1, 3-Diol, Fragrance.
Now if you can make out what all that says, you're a far better person than I! BUT it does say: "suitable for use in external vaginal area; ALCOHOL-FREE; safe for sewer or septic systems. For best results, use 1 or 2 wipes per flush."
Hubby likes these as much as I do, so I'm going to continue with them. However, they're not cheap, and I can't find refills, so I'm stuck buying the plastic containers. I like them and use them for all kind of storage uses, but I keep having to buy more (and paying for them), which is very costly! I'm hoping when we move I'll be able to find refills.
I think Always are perfect wipes. I don't know if Cottonelle is alcohol-free, but I'm gonna check it out when we go to Safeway.
Thanks again!
Bev

I searched and found Always refills at wallgreens.com. Of course you would have to pay shipping. Probably not worth it. The ones in the box are $3.99 for 40 and the refills are the exact same price for 45, so you are only getting 5 more wipes with the refills. Is that about what you pay in the stores? I'm going to buy a box and let hubby try them.

Gosh, Sandy, I just can't remember what I paid for them. I can't get them everywhere; Rite-Aid Drugs is always out of them, so when I can find them there, I buy all that they have and store them.
I'm gonna print out your post, and the next time I go down to Rite-Aid, even if they're out I can find out what they charge. It HAS to be cheaper to buy the refills if I order a large quantity of them and pay only one shipping & handling charge. I just SOOO don't need any more of those boxes!
Thanks for the help. You're a very clever lady.

Here is what I am grateful for:
1.To find a group of people that really understand IBS. 2.Believe it or not a thing called a rice sock...you take a clean sock and fill it with white rice, tie it off, pop it in the microwave for 2-3 minutes and wholah! a heating pad that conforms to every body part and delivers moist heat for a loonnnng time. 3.Rice milk smoothies, have trouble with soy. 4.To find other people that are bothered by totally innocuous things like mouthwash and low pressure systems...so cool. 5.Peppermint Tea 6.Great books and movies to take my mind off of my gut.
