I guess I just need to vent....is that okay?

My IBS has seemed to spiral out of control the past few days. It seems everything I eat sends me into a IBS-D attack, and I was up all night last night with horrible nausea and stomach pains (Thank God for heating pads and tea). I was so frustrated at not being able to sleep that I was ready to scream.

I'm sticking to totally safe foods today (and wearing extremely comfy pants to work) and am trying to muddle through, but it's hard.

Thankfully, it's Friday and I only have to get through today and then can rest this weekend.

((Thanks for listening))
Kristine

Oh, Kristine, that's too bad! You poor thing!

I have two specific suggestions for the future for the nausea and not being able to sleep.

Dramamine will help nausea even if it's not motion sickness, and Benadryl is actually sold as a sleep aid.

It's worth a try when all else fails!

Awwwww....I'm sorry to hear you're feeling so terrible.

I know how horrible it is suffering all night long and then having to work all day!! Makes me wanna scream and cry and throw a temper tantrum!! Although that's probably not the best solution

It is Friday and you have all weekend to rest...

Go home, take a warm bath, get in comfy clothes and drink some tea while applying a heating pad to your tummy. Watch a movie or something....you're set!!

Keep us posted on how you're feeling!! Hang in there...you can make it the rest of the day!!

Incredible hair, by the way -- I would kill to have one teenth of that beautiful mane.

So sorry about your attack. I'm also a D, and I know what you went through. Amazed that you could get yourself up to go to work today!

Try to analyze what you had to eat the past FEW days. Do you keep a food journal? It really helps me. Did you cheat? Even a little? Perhaps too much fat at one meal? I assume you're not drinking any coffee, not even decaf, right?

I had nausea and D last night too, but I know what I did wrong. I had a salad last night WITHOUT having a soluble fiber first. I can't believe I did something so stupid. I KNOW BETTER! I realized my mistake half-way through the salad, but it was too late. What a miserable night I had!

Try to think of everything you had -- make a list. If you can't remember (and who can?), start a food journal today (it's easy if you do it on the computer). I guarantee, you'll find the culprit next time by just checking the journal.

Hope you're better now.

Bev

Thanks for the support and helpful suggestions, guys. It really means a lot.

As the day wears on, I'm feeling better and better. And I think I know what did it. Yesterday, I went out to lunch (which I normally don't do) and had a bowl of soup with veggies, but not enough soluble fiber with it. It was after that lunch that I had my attack and I think the entire night I was suffering from the aftershocks.

Bev, thanks for the nice compliment. You're a sweetie. I'm actually predominantly IBS-C, so when I do have a D attack, I know something's REALLY wrong.

But things are getting better so there's hope!

hey there
mine has been bad these last few days too...I am staying with my in laws and my fiance and they are so lovely, but make me all this healthy food, a lot of which I can't have. last night was huge portions of cauliflower and brocolli. oh dear. fart city, pain, nausea. thank God for tea and hot water bottles. I cried my eyes out this morning with the sheer urge to finally get married and have my own kitchen and control my diet the way I used to!
Feel better!!!

Kristine, I'm sorry you're feeling sick! Yep, the soup could have done it. A lot of soups contain either hidden milk products, chicken fat, or MSG... all bad stuff! As much as I hated to do it, I stopped getting soup when I went out to eat. I'm glad you're feeling a little bit better, though. Hang in there, this too shall pass!
