Well, I went in to see my primary doc today (the one who referred me to that not-so-nice GI doctor) and he was really helpful and sympathetic.
He agreed to run other tests for me as he also felt the GI should have done more, but suggested I stick with the GI for the colonoscopy because of how long it'll take to find another doc to do it. What does everyone think of that? I figure I guess he can do that test...but do you think it would be better for me to find someone else who is a bit nicer?
Anyways, my doctor is doing an upper-GI barium x-ray, an abdominal ultrasound (for gallbladder) and did the celiac test (which cost me $167 Does that sound pretty good to everyone? I was happy he was at least taking me seriously and he seemed like he genuinely wanted to help me.
So, today was a better day than yesterday at least, and I just wanted to say thanks again to everyone for their support and encouragement, it really helped when I went back to talk to the doctor today.
Hope everyone is gearing up for a nice weekend!
Kelly

Way ta go, Girl! You done GOOOOOD. Love your doc! He's a keeper.

I have the same problem as you. Can't stand my GI -- but my regular doc tells me he's the best in town. Actually, I have to say my colonoscopy was delightful; I have no complaints whatsoever in that department. That's really the bottom line: does the GI know what he's doing? How good is he? If your doc thinks he's "the best in town," then swallow your pride and sign up for the colonoscopy. (But "swallowing your pride" don't mean taking any cr-- from him. Tell him what you AND YOUR DOC want done, and make sure he does it.)

Well, now, you had a happy birthday after all, eh? YAAY!

I'm so glad you're feeling better, and that your GP is taking you seriously.

I'd say keep the GI for the colonoscopy, but maybe ask your GP if he has another GI he'd refer you to for future visits.

Yay!!! Glad you talked to your doctor and things are better. The barium test is painless. Just boring! And the cost of the celiac test sounds about right. The stupid tests are SO expensive.

This sounds very similiar to my experience. And in the end just like you I gojt some results. I think you should stick with the dr. for the colonoscopy and then find new! For me, I ddin't like the way the GI treated me, at one point he said nice things then was rude! So, I feel mixed. Sounds like your doc was just an ass! Sorry no nice way to say it. I had the celiac test by my reg. doc and my GI looked at the results. Now i'm waiting to discuss with him. He just left me a message on my phone that he wants to do an endoscopy. Anyways, I posted this already today! Please keep us posted with your results. Good luck with the colonoscopy. I had one and my GI at the time (I've been to soooo many) said it showed nothing! I hope you had a GREAT birthday. Isn't it nice to have a man in your life like your boyfriend who made cake just for you! Try to think of these things when you get tense. With out my husband I don't know what I would do! Keep us posted!!
