I had such a great day yesterday and was so happy until last nt.
I went shopping all day and ate lunch at a fun shop.
I seem to just forget my rules sometimes and think ,"Oh a bit of this won't hurt". Anyway for some reason I ordered a urkey salad sandwich. It didn't even worry me that it might cause trouble.I even ate a few of those nasty chips that came w/it(and a little of the slaw, hmmm this is sounding worse and worse).
The shocking thing is that I was fine until about 6hrs. later, after dinner. Plus I am a "C" person and almost never get D. Boy I had it last nt. Funny though for a while I was thinking,oh the turkey salad must have not been fresh, what a stupid thing to order. Oh well, another day another lesson.I did have fun though and even signed up for a pottery class.

Su, we live and learn, don't we? The turkey salad sandwich most surely contained dark meat (a trigger) and real fatty mayo (a trigger), not to mention some kind of chopped up veggies (celery or onion? -- triggers). Chips? A trigger. SLAW? OMG! Girlfriend!

I'm SOOO sorry for you! At least now you know what NOT to do the next time you go out to lunch. And why not pack a little Equalactin in your purse for those occasions when you're eating out? Chew up one of them just before you eat -- before you leave the car, as you're walking into the restaurant door, or at the table -- whichever. Take some "Tummy Mint" tea bags with you and ask the waitress for some hot water for tea, then brew your own at the table. Everyone you're with will be envious of your yummy-smelling brew.

Order a plain white meat turkey sandwich instead of turkey salad, hold the mayo, hold the chips, hold the slaw (cabbage is SOOOO hard for us to digest). Maybe it sounds like a boring meal, but remember you're there for the ambience and the company and to have a good time, not to eat something that will ultimately make you sick.

Too bad about the D -- but since you have C, at least you're cleaned out now! (Sorry -- I'm such a polyanna!)

You're right -- another day, another lesson. And it sounds like you learned it well. Good for you.

Oh, and that pottery class? YIPPEE! I LOVED pottery and made a few pieces I'm real proud of. I've tried to find classes up here ever since we moved, but no luck. RATS. You're gonna have a fantastic time (sure hope you've got some real grubby clothes 'cause you're gonna get down and dirty!) ENJOY!

Bev

Isn't it funny how you bump your head and forget all the rules....

I did that a month and a half ago when I for some reason thought it logical to down tons of dried fruit. It worked for about 12 hours, then I was sick. Didn't even relate the two, ate the dried fruit again the next day. I made the connection in the bathroom over 6 or 7 visits the next morning.

Yep I think my IBS side of my brain must have gone on vacation. At least since I had the D I don't have the misery of feeling stopped up and sore today, but I'm being very careful and playing it low key today.Having D always wipes me out so much.I had not heard about the Equalactin idea before. Is it your reg. fiber supplement, like does it work for daily use,or just in dangerous situations?
Yes I love pottery classes.I took one at home a while back and it was like the 2 hrs. just flew by,plus I had pieces to take home that I use all the time.I'm hunting up some grub clothes.Do you have any pottery shops near where you live? The woman who is going to work w/me is the shop owner.

Thanks Jenx.It does make me feel stupid or dense to keep messing up.Guess it's just going to happen from time to time.I think when I am feeling good is when I am most vulnerable. Then it's easier to think I can cheat.

Hey Su... sorry about that. Don't feel too much like an idiot. I eat stuff that's going to cause me pain all of the time. Sometimes its a trade off. If I'm exhausted and I have to be awake and alert in class I'll drink caffine even if I know it's not going to be pretty later.

And yes, a severe attack makes me exhausted the next day. Hopefully you'll be feeling up to snuff soon!

Oh yes!!! The other night, my fiance and his family were ordering from a chinese restaurant which they said was very good adn health consious. So I told them I wanted brown rice (I feel better with brown then white) and stir fried vegies (I digest most vegies very well) in as little oil as possible.
Within five minutes of eating the vegies I had blown up like a balloon, here came the nausea and the pains...Jesus. I woke up the next morning like I had the worst hangover.
Through passed experience I knew the only way to get over it was a good sweat at the gym.
I felt so weak on teh crosstrainer and had to take it slow but sweated ten times more then usual (like my body had to get something out). Oh thank God I didn't give up in teh first ten minutes like I was so tempted to. I felt normal again after my work out.
Sweat it out...it really helps me.

I did that for 6 months, Su. SIX MONTHS! I'd feel better, forget to care about the diet... and then get sick again. I felt like a moron. Glad to know I'm not a moron and am only human. Thanks for making me feel better!

Just FYI, I've been strict for about a month now and feel GREAT! No major issues. It's quite lovely, really. This time I'm not even truely tempted to cheat 'cause I know the end result. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks!
