Hi Everyone,
I'm sooooooooo mad after my doctor visit. I need to vent.
Once again because I lost 6 lbs the doctor thinks I have a eating disorder.
I'm not sure why I lost the weight these last 2 months.
I eat 3-5 meals a day. My chronic diarrhea has not been a problem for two months, yea!
I was feeling good till 2 weeks ago may be getting kidney stones again and a cold that makes me feel tired.
This symseter has been a busy one and I was hopeing to look for work this May. Have had a lot of stress
with my classes and worrying how to find a graphic designer job (we live in a small town).
This week has been rough, but my diarrhea so far not returning. I can even eat a few extra foods with no
trouble, spaghetti sauce (1 tsp sugar added for acidity), cooked broccoli and even 1/2 an orange (if eat
soluble fiber with it).
This is my daily diet does it look like I'm starving myself to you?
Breakfast - 1/4cup oatmeal 1/4 cup white rice with 1 sliced banana and 1/4 cup soymilk added
1-2 pumpkin muffins (Heather's recipe)
1-2 cups strong peppermint tea

Lunch - turkey sandwich (French bread + turkey slice)
Cooked zucchini 1/2 cup
banana
soy milk and Peppermint tea 1 cup

snack - pumpkin muffin or french bread

Dinner - Spaghetti 1 1/2 cups
more cooked vegs 1/2 - 1 cup
french bread (touch of olive oil and garlic powder then toast in toaster oven)
cup of Peppermint tea

snack - Rice crispy cereal and soy milk
pumpkin muffin and 1/2 orange
Peppermint tea

I'm mad for you about the Doctor and also 'cause you eat more than I do and I'm not losing weight!

How do you feel about your weight? Are you in a reasonable size/weight-height range/BMI?

I can understand why that would be a giant pain, but I'm sure your doctor just thinks that he/she is looking out for you. That's one of those things that's impossible to prove not true though!

Look at he bright side at least your doctor is concerned about you, even if you feel it is overboard.

It looks like you eat enough food in a day. Has your thyroid been checked? Have you been checked for Celiac? These are the two things that come to mind when you are eating and not gaining weight.

Hope this helps.

6 lbs in 2 months is not anything that would alarm me! I have some friends that will fluctuate that much in a month depending on the time (we retain water, etc.plus around THAT time)
It does not look like you are starving yourself. You could be a poster girl for a good IBS diet examples. If you think there's no cause for concern, then don't worry.
Doctors often throw stuff out there because they REALLY don't get IBS at all, and that anything with "eating" and "trouble" in the same sentence to them is confusing.

I agree with Barbara. At least your doctor cares. There are so many doctors out there who just show you the door. Barbara just opened my eyes. I was groaning about my recent return office visit in which my doc gave me blood pressure meds. And I discovered I've gained another FIVE POUNDS in 3 months. RATS! It's so frustrating trying to lose weight and seeing the scales go the other way. My diet is about half of yours; if I ate what you do, I'd be huge (well, bigger), and I'm gonna have to cut back even MORE.

Okay, sorry, just needed to vent a little.... it's just starvation, you know, sugar withdrawals .....

Thanks everyone,
Yes was about midrange for my height, so 6lbs didn't
bother me but, he was trying to get me to say I don't eat,
take laxatives or throw-up! that's what made me mad.
Someone who contantly fights explosive diarrhea, sure
doesn't want to be in same room as laxatives!
25 years of fighting this IBS many ups and downs over the years.
Yes doctor checking thyroid ect... with blood test and ultra sound
for kidney stones. If you have celiac doesn't that cause
pain? I don't have pain and no diarrhea for 2 whole months
big thing for me.
Poster girl huh, I like that, to be a poster anything at
50 sounds fun.
Yes, doctor cares he's just blunt sometimes, and he
doesn't get IBS cause he said eating only
cooked vegies means I'm not really controlling the IBS. I thought Doc,if you
only knew how many years restricting my diet and still so
much problems everyday! I'll take this diet, feeling better and
IBS in control anyday.
