I used to take it and yes, that would happen to me...I could get emotional in 10 seconds or less. Another thing, it relaxed my urinary tract so much I thought I would never make it to the bathroom in time, and sometimes didn't. Since I've discontinued it's use I don't get that any more.

i'm just like Jennifer with the hycosamine, except for the sleepy bit. never noticed that before, but then again, i'm always sleepy.
i love my hycosamine and keep it on me at all times. in fact, i keep that closer than my Imitrex, that's how in love with it i am. i chew up 2 Equalactin, then toss a few hycosamine under my tongue (i use sublingual, too). usually stops the D in its tracks. never had another antispasmodic work before. love it!

Girls, the sublingual made me very sleepy also. I take the tablet form, it is slow release, it does not make me sleepy.
What would I do without it, I love this stuff, I take one every morning.

I take Dicyclomine which is a form of Bentyl and read up on the side effects after I had noticed that I was becoming very emotional and just wanted to sleep all day and found that depression is a side effect of this medication. So that explained it. I still take this medication because it's the only thing that works. I just up my work outs at the gym to 5 days a week to keep me motivated and releive any of the stress during the day.

Julie, I've never had that reaction, but I'm on a maintenance dose of antidepressant so maybe that's why. I have noticed drowsiness, but only when I took it too close to something else that also caused drowsiness. As long as I take them two hours or so apart, it's no problem.
In fact, just to digress, but I used to be a world champion napper. One hour naps every Sat and Sun afternoon and 20 min powernaps every day at work (in a locked conference room with no windows and a timer to wake me up!). But since my fibro diagnosis and the treatment of my sleep disorder -- I CAN'T NAP anymore! Seriously. I stretch out in bed in a darkened room for 15 minutes or 30 minutes or 45 minutes and I'm still WIDE AWAKE!! So I guess I've caught up on my sleep deficit!!

Yes, that's what I do too, Janice. I've got to work out or it gets scary...But at least it looks like between you and Kandee, what I've noticed is an actual side effect and not just me being emotional. Good to know!
