When my IBS acts up, especially when I'm in a lot of pain, I tend to get nauseous. I hate throwing up, and I'm a college student, so I have work and class and stuff, so I've found that chewing Icebreakers mint gum usually helps. Since being on the boards, I've found out that sorbitol is not good (and it's an ingredient in Icebreakers ) I've been having an attack for most of the past week, even though I've been sticking to safe foods, getting plenty of sleep, and drinking over 64 oz of water a day....does anyone have any other suggestions for helping with nausea, I think I need to stop chewing the gum...

Chewing gum makes you swallow more air too, which can cause trouble.
Ginger is really good for nausea. Try ginger Altoids, crystallized ginger, or even ginger hard candy (gin-gins).
Hope you feel better soon.

I find that Mentos mints have a nice soothing effect. Pretty strong peppermint and they taste great. They are generally my airport food, along with bananas.

Thank you for the suggestions. I ran out of gum yesterday, and on my way home from work I bought some peppermint altoids and some peppermint hard candies. Gonna give those a try...

Mmmm - Mentos. Those are my default airport food too. I also go for them any times when ginger or peppermint Altoids seem too strong. Sipping on some peppermint tea is really good too, if drinking something in a to-go cup is an option.
My lifeline for nausea in high school was Lifesavers of all sorts of flavors. Wondering which flavor was next in the roll gave me some small distraction from feeling pukey...
