Hi, everyone! I am new to this forum. I have only been diagnosed IBS-C since June of 2003. I am still learning. This is a great site! My question is: Does or can Advil or other anti-inflammatory drugs cause constipation in IBS patients? I have had an awful time since needing this for disk pain in my back. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks so very much! ChucksKat

Personally, I can tolerate ibuprofen, but I never take it on an empty stomach. A lot of people can't tolerate it though. If you do a search with no time limits, you'll see lots of posts about it.

I have the IBS D, and I have to take lots of Advil for menstrual cramps every month. It causes the D for me, big time. I suffer for about a week before it gets out of my system. I've never had it constipate me before, but that's just me. Hope that is of some help to you.

For me I take advil right around my period and it calms the spasms and prevents D that I would normally get....but everyone's different!!

Hi, and welcome!
All the NSAID's are D triggers for most people. I take Extra Strength Tylenol plus a prescription pain killer called Ultram (generic name tramadol). Works for me on back pain, menstrual pain, fibromyalgia pain and tension headaches.
