The question is finally answered according to the University of Maryland through alternative medicines that slippery elm can be used for IBS and that it is a soluable fiber.
The address is www.umm.edu if anyone wants to go in and look at it. It's a great site.

Hello to everyone!
I have a question about a product that has been recommended by my colon health therapist and naturopathic physician...it is called Perm a Vite and it is a powder that is supposed to provide nutritional support for the GI tract after it has taken a beating (ie parasites, IBS etc) You are supposed to take 1-3 tbsp per day. It contains 15 calories, 3.7 carbs all of which are fiber. The ingredients are cellulose (3.7g), L-glutamine, N-acetyl-D-glucosamine, slippery elm and stevia extract leaves and intestinal glandular complex with epithelial growth factor and MSM...
any thoughts???
Thanks,
amy
