I am a newbie to this site and I have already ordered Heathers book and they should be here on Monday. My question is how long do you stay on soluble fiber before adding the other fiber to the diet?

Once you're stable, just start slowly with a fruit smoothie (see Heather's incredible berry - banana smoothie recipe) and some veggie soup, such that the veggies are chopped up and cooked real well (easy on the tummy to digest), and just have 'em with some soluble fiber (some French bread or sourdough -- yum!).

That was my failure for the last 6 months, I'm embarrassed to admit!
I kept feeling better for a day or two then doing someting I shouldn't (drink a Coke, eat some chocolate, forget my soluble fiber). Then it was all over! To the point where I wasn't getting all the nutrients I need 'cause I wasn't having any fruit or veggies (besides taters and sweet taters, etc...).
I got pretty stable about 2 weeks ago and have been "spot on" since. I just added the smoothies (with added protein) and I'm feelin' GREAT! I'm also in a great mood. I think I was seriously malnourished before 'cause I kept getting so sick. Never knew a strawberry could make a girl so happy!
ANYWAY... Don't cheat and don't dive in to the insoluble fiber! GO SLOW. It's the only way to make sure you're in control and don't get depressed from a backslide. By going slow, if you have a bad day it's not as hard to figure out why. But if you had too much new stuff in 48 hours, how do you know what the culprit was!?
Enough chatting... I'm off to continue my day-long Rice Crispie Treat binge!

Thanks for yalls help. Another silly question.... Can I start now by eating tuna/salmon? Or should I just stick to straight to rice, pasta, potatoes, sourdough bread?

BJ, I would try a little and see how you do. Salmon is SOOOO good for you; it contains essential omega-3 oil. Make sure it doesn't have anything else in it, though; my fave is Gorton's frozen grilled salmon filets, but I just discovered it's got MSG in it -- -- so I have to throw it all out. Hopefully you can get fresh salmon and grill it yourself. Don't forget your soluble fiber, though. Maybe a nice fresh sourdough roll.... mmmmm .....
Hope you get stable soon.

Yes, ALL fish is excellent. Just be careful what's in it or added to it. Salmon has that good omega-3 oil, so anytime you can have salmon is a good time. I don't get enough of the stuff unfortunately.

Plain tuna is one of my standbys. Packed in water is safest. And I usually stick with a small amount, 3 oz per meal.
(I actually reacted to some packed in vegetable broth once. I think it had MSG in it.)
Welcome to the board and keep coming back! It's a great place.
