I am getting married in June and for my honey moon we are going to Paris, Barcelona and Marbella in the Costs del Sol. two weeks total. I am very afraid i am going to get sick. I am afraid to fly long distances and leaving my comfort zone where I know where I can go eat. Has anyone travelled to these places. Help? I did get a room with a kichenette in Marbella.

Here's a link to some health food stores and vegan restaurants in Barcelona: http://www.happycow.net/europe/spain/barcelona/
By the way, I'm jealous. Barcelona is my absolute most favorite city in the world!

Chinagrl,
Did you live in Barcelona? I would love to visit there!

Nope... I was just there for a week or so. I don't know what my opinion would be if I lived there.

Help-I've had IBS for years and found Heather's book 2 years ago-it has been a God send and I had been symptom free for a long time following her guidelines. Now, my worst symptom is back and it is very hard to live with. I have the worst gas of anyone I've ever know-never in the morning-always in the afternoon and evening-it doesn't matter what I eat-I embarrass myself where ever I go and it is killing me. I use Citricel every day and am now on a mild anti-depressant as this has helped in the past. Does anyone know of any presciption that can help me? Getting Depressed over this....Ali B. :(

A couple of ideas: pack snacks with you. Ie. packages of applesauce, safe crackers, instant oatmeal, etc. of soluble fiber and make sure you have some before you eat anywhere. While in Paris - stock up on French bread. It is the safest for IBS as it does not contain any dairy ingredients. Buy french bread wherever you can - that will always be a good base for you. Have a slice BEFORE you go to the restaurant. Don't be tempted to assume that all white bread is safe - it's not. Don't be afraid to ask questions in the restaurants as well. You don't have to justify your questions with a reason if you don't want to. If you do, you can say that you're not trying to be picky but you have food sensitivities and need to avoid certain foods. Ask what is in things. Grilled chicken/seafood is good. Ask to use as little oil as possible, condiments and sauces on the side, etc.

The gas is difficult to get under control. I still have it, but not as bad as I did before I started on Heather's acacia and my probiotics.
I too used to take Citrucel, but not enough. It helps a lot of people here, but I prefer the acacia. How much of the Citrucel are you taking in? One capsule is practically nothing; I believe it's only a half gram; perhaps you need to increase your fiber supplement.
Also, have you tried the fennel tea? Peppermint tea? Heather's peppermint caps? (They've very strong.)
Have you tried Beano? What about Gas-X? It's all kinda trial-and-error because what works for one doesn't work for another. You have to not give up, Girlfriend, you have to keep at it -- because when you have a good day, it's SOOOO good that it beats all the bad. Don't forget, we're all in the same boat -- we're all blowing! -- some just worse than others.
