Go to the University of Maryland Medicine web-site (www.umm.edu) to find vey good information about complementary and alternative treatments for IBS. They include all herbs and its interactions with other medicines, warnings, uses, quantities and safety for children. I was having problems with the peppermint (reflux) and decided to substitute it with lemonbalm to see how it works.

Ilsa, Will you keep us posted on the lemonbalm, please? I can't tolerate the peppermint, but love the idea of using something natural to help soothe the system.

Jen- Lemonbalm works great for me, since I can't do peppermint either...and it doesn't taste bad like fennel!

Maybe my search skills are poor, but I cannot find the info you mention at www.umm.edu
I do see that they have a complementary medicine program, but I haven't been able to find the IBS info.
Can you help? with a more specific web address?
