I have been taking Bentyl for my IBS and it is working nicely. However, I do have a major problem with gas and bloating. I'm trying to find a way to keep my tummy from rumbling because it is very loud and embarassing especailly when I'm sitting in class. I have tried over the counter gas eliminators such as the Amodium brand, but nothing seems to be totally effective. Any suggestions???

Here's just a few ideas:

Fennel tea
Peppermint Caps
Gas X before meals
Beano before meals
Sometimes if I can take a quick break or a walk it seems to help relieve the pressure when I'm in a situation where it's not socially acceptable to be gassy!
Avoid any carbonation and any veggies that cause lots of gas like onions, broccoli and cauliflower.

Hope this helps and I'm sure others will have some suggestions for you. Sometimes it's a matter of trial and error to see what works for you. I know that Immodium makes the anti diarrhea with an anti-gas but if you don't need the anti diarrhea you might want to just try taking Gas X.

P.S. Even when I am feeling fine, my stomach can also be soooo loud and there's just no quieting it down sometimes.
Good luck!

beans are very bad for gas that way unless you saok them a long time to release the flatulence that causes gas.

Beano is an enzyme you take before you eat foods that cause gas. They are supposed to help reduce the amount of gas that you would get from gas producing veggies. Some people have found some relief from it.

I always took Imodium just for diarrhea (although I know it touts itself as an "anti-gas" as well). Have you tried "Gas-X"? I used to crew, and before getting into the boat (with 7 other rowers), I certainly wasn't about to have to "blow" -- so I took Gas-X. It worked for me.
