Does anyone take xanax and does it seem to help with your stomach. My dr wants me to go off it...Im so stressed at the moment I just don't know if i can. I have reduced it from 1mg a day to .5mg a day, but I do take a pill in the middle of the day when my tummy wont settle. I do want to eventually go off of them but there are sooooo many stressors right now it not the right time.

I take ativan, which is a more mild anxiety med., and i take it simply for stress. I cant tell if it helps my tummy or not. I usually take in the middle of the night if I cant sleep or wake up panicky. It makes me relax more so i think it helps deter a stomach attach brought on by strickly stess not food.

I'd talk to your doctor more about taking Ativan. It's what they use for people who are really upset in the hospital or under a great deal of stress. I've taken it several times when i've been extremely upset with depression and when people in my family had died. Have you tried Buscopan?

I do have anxiety disorder, and my ex committed suicide about a year ago, so I take it when I am having panic attacks. I dont take it when I just have stomach problems. Which some of my D attacks happen when Im stressed about being in a strange unfamiliar place. But take it only when panic attacks happen or extreme anxiety.

Hi, I have taken Xanax and have to admit that at times it has really helped to settle my stomach. I suffer from intense bloating with my IBS. The pain and discomfort causes me to become extremely anxious which then creates a vicious cycle. I have recently gone off of Xanax because I felt I was becoming too dependent on it. The first week off was tough and I had a very hard time sleeping however, I am glad to be off of it now. I have started taking calcium and magnesium dilligently because it is a natural calming agent. I am definitely feeling a lot calmer these days. Anyway, Xanax is helpful for anxiety and can definitely take the edge off of the IBS symptoms but please use it with caution because it is quite addictive. Take care of yourself.
