Ginger tastes better if you mix it with another herbal tea that's got cinnamon or is fruity. I like Good Earth decaf because it's got a little bit of ginger in it already, so the tastes go together well.

No, I've never tried it.... was it fresh ginger root? I might have to try that.

Hope you feeling better!

I mix ginger aid from traditional medicinals and celestial seasonings peppermint together still not great but I can stand it and it has helped even though I still have a little heartburn.

Julie,

That is a great idea, but I don't do peppermint anymore. What I'm wondering is if the Good Earth herbal (it's strong with ginger) will cut the taste of fennel if the two were mixed. Ever try it?

No, I don't do peppermint either, but the small amount of it in Good Earth doesn't bother me, as long as it's well before bedtime. I don't know if it cuts the fennel taste, haven't tried it. I use fruit tea for fennel, like cranberry-apple, or some other berry (right now it's Gypsy tea Wild Berries--very yummy!).
Are you able to take peppermint caps? I was wondering if they have the same upper GI effects as the tea does?

Mixing the fennel with berry is a good idea. Thanks. I'll try that and the Good Earth and see which cuts the fennel taste the best. Just wish I liked the taste of fennel better.

I can't do either the pep caps or tea. I never had reflux or GERD or anything of the like until I was about 6 months into this diet and using the pep tea like crazy then added the caps. It all backfired on me and now peppermint tea or caps is out. A few Altoids now and then, and even a little creme d' menthe are fine but not the tea or caps..not right now anyway. W/O the peppermint I have NO reflux. Oh, BTW, catnip tea is ok with me but it gives me a headache (strange ey?).

Ever have Adagio herbal tea(s)? They are supposed to be the absolute best! I can't find them anywhere locally so will have to mail order some. I mean, who wouldn't like a tea named Pina Colada?

You can order fennel tea from Heather if you can't find it. It really helps me with gas. I mix it with peppermint and sip it throughout the day. Or, if I get gassy, I drink a couple of cups pretty quick (not guzzling of course, but not just casually sipping, if you know what I mean), and it goes away.
