I cannot seem to get rid of my H! Has anyone else suffered from this and found a way to cope? Does this problem make anyone tired? Thanks for any tips/info. you can share!

I mentioned this sometime back, so if you remember it, then don't bother reading any further.

I had hemorrhoids really badly a long time ago that drove me crazy. My brother had them too, and he told me he got rid of his by using "Wet Ones" whenever he went to the bathroom. He was right; as soon as I began using them FAITHFULLY every single time I went, my hemorrhoids soon shrunk up to nothing. I also used Preparation H when the itching drove me crazy.

I've switched from "Wet Ones" to "Always Feminine Wipes." I keep a purse-size pack in my emergency medicine cabinet, and whenever I go to the bathroom, I take my little pack with me. At the office, it was a standing joke with everyone, whenever they saw me with the little white plastic case, they knew where I was going and what I was going to do.

Laugh as they might, I had a happy bum. Still do.

The trick is to NEVER go to the bathroom without using a feminine wipe.

Hubby has hemorrhoids also, and has begun using the Preparation H hemorrhoid wipes; however, he said the Preparation H cream isn't nearly as effective as Anusol HC-1 cream. It's over-the-counter medication, so you should be able to find it anywhere.

I haven't needed the cream for over 20 years now, but again -- I never EVER go to the bathroom without my little plastic case! I have two sizes: the large size that sits on top of the toilet tank and the purse-size that goes in my emergency kit.

Interesting that you brought this subject up, Ruchie, because just yesterday I ran out of my "Always" and, because I was real busy sewing curtains, hubby went out to the store to get me more of my "Always." He couldn't find them anywhere; all the drug stores were out, and even Safeway was out of them. He had to drive down to Rite Aid Drugs and ask the saleswoman for feminine wipes. Can you imagine?!

What a guy! I owe him one, don't I?

Ruchie - I got HORRIBLE hems after giving birth to my daughter...I found that a small compress of some kind, be it a washcloth or piece of gauze soaked in witch hazel really helped. I hope that you feel better.

Hmmm...about the hubby going to get feminine wipes? I guess I haven't been married long enough yet to get my hubby to do that...I asked him to pick me up a box of tampons while he was at the store, and he looked at me like I'd asked him to go streaking (naked) through the parking lot, lol.

Thanks Bev!!!!!!!

It sounds like your Hems are external...is that true?

My doc told me mine are internal but that I also have a cut right now. The first cut healed...now I have another one! It sounds like you use the wipes for the external cut, right? Do you think it will help internally too (HOPEFUL!)

Thanks so much Bev...

*hugs*

Thanks Becca! Did this just help for external cutting or do you think it helped internally as well?

Yes, Ruchie, mine were external. However, I believe all the hemorrhoid creams on the market come with an plastic applicator that you insert into your rectum for internal hemorrhoids. As I said, the cream my hubby uses gives instant relief, so you might give it a try.

I got the impression that the important thing is to clean after a BM -- which is easy for me to do with my wipes. I'm not quite sure how you would do that if you have internal hemorrhoids, but you might ask your doc when you see him next.

Good luck -- hemorrhoids can drive you crazy!

Ruchie how did you find out that you had internal hemmoroids? Did the Dr. go in with a scope? I went last week to my Dr. and he is sending me to the GI Specialist for consultation. My Dr. believes it is internal H. but to make sure he says that I will possibly need a scope done to rule out anything else. I thought it was possibly prolapsed rectum or U C moving up my colon. If it is internal H., I would probably have them removed as I do bleed alot. I am tired most time but I take iron supplements due to the bleeding from my Ulcerative Colitis. Not much can be done right now about this other than not forcing to much when going to the bathroom. Another question for you. The Dr. asked me if I was itchy and if I had pain. No to both, how about you? Take care Sue

Suzy,

Hi! It was discovered first with the scope and then with a rectal exam my PC did. Yes, I have itching and pain...I'm glad you don't! It is SO HARD not to force it...with me it just sits there until I do! I have had them now for a week and a half straight...I hope they go away soon!
I REALLY hope you're ok and that your tests show it's nothing more than just H! Let us know what happens!

*hugs*

Thanks Bev! I've never seen one of these plastic applicators before (does this hurt...does anyone know?) I'll def. check it out. Thanks for all your great advice and all your empathy!
