Hi all,
I finally managed to find a soluble fibre supplement that even says its for 'Bulk Forming' as I suffer from D. Its made from Psyllium husk, and I got it from a well known Health food store here, has anyone heard of this, as I am wondering if its any good for my symptons, has anyone heard of it?? I am eager to try it.

That's what's in my Metamucil which really helps me, so it sounds good I think. I'm a D too.

Anyone else?

Start very slow!! I started with something ridiculous like 1/4 teaspoon every three days! But now I can't live without it!

Good luck!!

Start slowly and build up. I tried psyllium based soluble fibre gels and they blew me up like a balloon and made me feel worse. Even my poops turned white with it!!!

My GP (I'm from the UK too) tells me that psyllium and most other over the counter soluble fibre supplements here ferment in the gut causing bloating and more wind if you're sensitive to them.

He prescribed a different one for me which avoids the gas and bloating - it's pure soluble fibre based on vegetable gum/fibre (it's very much like Heather's acacia fibre) called Normacol. I think you might be able to buy it (although I've not seen it anywhere else). It's fab, I've only been taking it a few days and am feeling MUCH MUCH better.

If you have any trouble with the one you're taking, ask your GP about Normacol. (You want the plain Normacol, not the Normacol Plus which has a laxative added in too).

All the best

Hi there,
Thanks for your post, but I was just wondering if the Normacol helps with diarrhoa because that is my problem. I havent opened the Fibre Supplement yet, and looked up your Normacol on the internet, and its a reasonable price. So if that helps with d. then i would rather try something that won't bloat me up lika balloon!!
Cheers
Lynnie xx
