This is so unnerving. I am just tired of my stomach hurting. It has been cramping all day. All i have eaten is one slice of heather's banana bread recipe and tea and water. I just cant figure out what the problem is. and i really really want to stop focusing life on my stomach and food!!!!! besides which i do not feel like i am eating healthy anymore. I admit my stomaach is (was) doing better on the diet but i really need more fruits and veggies...if i could only get it under control!!!! does anyone else just want to scream?????

You have every right to be frustrated -- frustrated and ANGRY. Every right. Go ahead, scream, yell -- we're all behind you, we're all screaming and yelling with you.
It sucks. You were dealt a raw deal. You don't deserve it. WE were dealt a raw deal -- none of us deserve it. Oftentimes I wonder, "why me? What did I do to piss Him off so?" But then I come on these boards and read everyone's story, and it calms me down a little. I realize that I'm NOT in this alone, there are so many others out there in the same boat with me. If I pissed HE off, then all these others pissed him off too. WE have this horrible thing we all share -- and knowing that absolutely makes it a lot more bearable for me. I never felt this way until I came on the boards, just two months ago.
So, Girlfriend, you go ahead and scream -- we're screaming with you. But also go into the recipe index and just read it. Print it out and peruse each item. I challenge you to not be able to find something that interests you. Go to that recipe, get the ingredients, and whip it up. Then savor it. I guarantee you, it will help you feel better. There's a lot in there that's absolutely delicious. It may not be raw broccoli dipped in onion dip with lots of dairy sour cream, and it may not be a fresh fruit salad of strawberries, pineapple and blueberries (ooooh), but you might find a yummy smoothie with those fruits pureed with some soy milk, banana and protein powder. Yum.
We're with you, Girl! Scream any time you want.

Yes, I feel the same way sometimes... pretty often, actually! This screaming looks therapeutic, so I think I'll join in.
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey, that does feel good. Angel, I hope you get things under control soon. I know how frustrating this all can be, because it takes a lot of time to get this all figured out. I'm also not eating all the fruits and veggies I should, so I understand that too. Just hang in there and try to de-stress! We're all here for you!

Good advice from the others. Scream, take a deep breath, be patient. You'll get there. A few suggestions - your stomach may be cramping more because there was nothing in it. Try very small amounts of food throughout the day. When I was pregnant, I munched on soda crackers all day long. Otherwise, an empty stomach made me nauseous. Drink lots of peppermint tea - that should ease the cramping AND the pain. web page This page lists what to eat when you can't eat anything. I consider it a foundation. Get these foods in your tummy then build your way up to cooked mashed fruits and veggies. Sweet potatoes, mashed carrots, squash are all good options to start with - anything that can be well cooked and mashed. Applesauce is another staple. You will be able to get your fruits and veggies back - let's get you feeling better first though. If you can, take a day off and just rest. Relax, drink your tea and feel better. You WILL get better - it just takes time.

Up until 3 years ago, when I found Heather's book, out of desperation, as nothing was helping me, her book turned me around. You really do need to focus on the list in her book of what you can eat when you can't eat anything. Stay on it for a while, and just take good care of yourself. Do you have a heating pad?? I sleep with mine sometimes, when I don't feel well. I know when I am in pain, with my stomach all inflamed feeling, my spirits go down the toilet!! I get so emotional and depressed, but somehow we do all start to feel better, there is a turning point. Make some potatoes cooked in chicken broth, or rice. Oatmeal is my favorite meal when I feel lousy. I eat it every morning now, and it makes me feel healthy. Just try to be strong, but if you have to cry, make it a good CRY!!
-------------------- Everything somehow always works out for the best.

I also need to SCRREEEEEEEAMMMMMM AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!%&$#@!!!!!!
Okay much better. I have had 3 days of my own stomach ups and downs with lots of gas and can't quite figure out what I ate that was doing it to me. Tonight I am finally feeling better and proud of myself I did not take any Immodium. I try to only take that if I absolutely have to b/c then I get C for the whole next 2 days.
Sometimes it seems like it's so difficult for people with "normal" stomachs to comprehend what it is we go through on a daily basis. How physically and sometimes mentally tiring it can be to always have your stomach on your mind. And trying to plan your day or your life around what your body can and can't handle. Then trying to make the people who care about you understand that things aren't the way they used to be and I can't go bar-hopping and I can't go out from work and stay out really late. "well you used to be able to do that". It's so depressing sometimes! I'm so glad to have found other people going through the same things and I even realize how grateful I am to be able to have a full life and a great job and the ability to do most of the things I want to in spite of my stomach.
Okay now I am done venting!!!!!! See big happy faces now....

That was a good vent. You're real good at it, Girlfriend! You said it perfectly. It's all right on.
I hate that I've lost friends over my IBS. It still hurts, even though I know they want to have fun -- I understand that. I'm not a drinker any more, no more Jack for me. What fun is a tea-toteler? Yeah, the designated driver who has to stop at bathrooms along the way.
So, Debby, you can vent any time you want. You're very good at it, and it expresses my feelings perfectly.
