I've only had a regular x ray of that area, but I wish you luck!

I had that done it's not that bad. They have you drink some liquid before the test and then you'll be in a open xray machine, they will hook a IV to you and then somepoint during the Xray they'll inject some Iodine into the blood stream. You will feel very warm and hot in the most private area it's like a BIGG hot flash, I even sweated. Then it's over. Now if your in the Diahhrea way right now you'll go shortly after and it will be red in color don't be alarm. You might have The D for a while. Get plenty of rest the night before. You'll do fine, hope all the test come back great!!

Hi Michele,
I've had one done to check abdomen, but not pelvis.

The worst part for me was holding my breath, but it isn't that bad. You lay there and follow directions and it was alittle relaxing. The Tech. did inject dye through my butt, but it wasn't painful.

Hope it goes well for you and why are you having this test done?

Michele, it's a piece of cake. I had it done in the hospital when I went in with excruciating pain in my lower abdomen. The CT scan found diverticulitis. I was SOOO grateful to have the diagnosis. I think CT scans are incredible. There was no pain, and it was over very quickly -- besides, the technicians are so gentle and caring and .... actually it was quite pleasant!

Thanks for the replies! I am still having a lot of abdomenal pain and can't seem to get it under control. Since I'm thinking of stopping my birthcontrol pills and trying to get pregnant in the next couple months, the doctor just wants to be sure everything is ok. The last colonoscopy and barium enemas I had were over 10years ago. I have had the small scopes they do in the office but nothing else recently. I am prone to C so a little D would be fine! I have a terrible gag reflex though and I'm worried about having to drink that stuff!

I get it done Wednesday night so I'll let you know how it goes!

I had an abdominal CT done back in June, when I went into the ER in excrutiating pain. ... The CT's really not that bad. But, I do DEFINATELY recommend the orange flavoring with the stuff you have to drink! You just drink like 2 bottles of fluid that they give you (it may be 3, I don't remember) ... the orange stuff helps the flavor a lot! Then they give you an IV with radioactive dye in it ... it makes you feel really hot in the naturally warm parts of your body --This lasts for awhile. The actual CT is really easy. You lay on your back on a movable table, with your hands behind your head. They move you around in the donut-shaped scanner and you have to hold your breath occasionally. It's not bad.

Good luck!!!
