Well, I've made the Peppermint Fudge Cake, and the Anit-depressent Brownies at least a zillion times because they're so good, but now I'm craving something CRUNCHY and SWEET! Any advice on a killer recipe from the recipe index that's a sure winner?

Thanks,
Cookie Starved Alicia

sorry I don't have any cookie ideas but my favorite's from Heather's eating for IBS book are... Lemon glazed sticky bread, Pumpkin apple spice bread, brown sugar banana bread..like you said peppermint fudge cake (have you tried that with the almond extract? its pretty good) I don't know what to tell you for a crunchy craving! Have some gram crackers!!

Good luck!

Hey there, Cookie-Starved!

I know what you mean. Been there.

Hubby is hooked on 'Nilla Wafers. I confess I've partaken on occasion. After checking the ingredients on the box, I didn't see anything terribly dangerous, so, yes, I gave in to the temptation. They're crunchy, sweet, very satisfying.

Now, I'm not saying they're IBS-friendly, I ain't sayin' that AT ALL. I just went to pull out the box to check on the ingredients for ya, but unfortunately hubby had finished them off and tossed away the evidence!

Check them out at your local grocery store -- but read the ingredients first. Again, I don't recall if they're completely IBS-safe, but I had only 5 or 6 (hey, they're SMALL!) with my Soy Dream frozen vanilla dessert. Mmmmmmm.

I know you asked for recipe recommendations, but I didn't have any; I'm more of a brownie-fudge freak than a cookie monster.

Bev,
Great idea! I haven't had 'Nilla Wafers in years. I already put it on the marketing list. Thanks!

Alicia,
My favorite store-bought cookie that's relatively IBS-safe is Carr's Biscuits for Tea.

I found cookies at the health food store that are Paul Newman's brand. Totally organic, dairy free, 4.5 gr of good fat. I got the Ginger-o's, but he had a chocolate version also. His website is: www.newmansownorganics.com. Doesn't cookies and milk sound GOOD!

I love all the Paul Newman products. And all the proceeds go to charity, which is so great.

Bev, I just got the Nilla Wafers and they list high fructose corn syrup. Are you sure they're okay? I figure in small amounts, they'll be fine. That's why I like Carr's, they're made in England so they use just plain good old sugar! And a little cane syrup, but that's from sugar cane not from corn so it's really just sugar syrup.

And yeah, Marjo, cookies and milk are my favorite late afternoon snack! It's like coming home from school when I was a kid! Very comforting.
