Today was my first dr appointment since I learned about IBS and found these boards... I was just dreading it. I absolutely love my doctor, but was afraid to bring up IBS because he would think I am some hypochondriac that is intent on diagnosing myself with anything I read about on the internet.
As it turns out, my fears were unfounded. When I described my symptoms, he told me it sounded like IBS, but that I should really have some tests done to make sure. He also gave me Zelnorm for the time being. I schedule my appointment with the allergist to test for food allergies tomorrow. First step on a long road of testing, but I will be glad to know for sure!

im so happy that your dr appt went well.my first doc appt was a disaster. all my doc cared about was the fact that i lost some weight. she automatically thought i was anorexic, and threw my thoughts of ibs at the window (along with my sanity) Thank God, i complained to her so much that she gave up on me and sent me to a gastrologist who gave me Levsin and sent me to a bunch of tests. Ive had more needles stuck in me than humanly possible and im still on a long road to the diagnosis of ibs. im so happy that your on a road to getting better. Just sit back, let the needles stick ya and enjoy the ride...lol
