does intercourse worsen your constipation

This is a sensitive matter I know,but I need some info. I just did a search here to see if I could get help w/out asking this,but what I read was not exactly what I need help w/.
It seems to me that intercourse usually causes my constipation to worsen or if I am not constip. having inter. makes me constip. This is really causing trouble in my relationship w/my husb. I am afraid to be close and cuddly bec. that leads to interc. and I am sick of getting constip. Any ideas or feedback welcome.Thank you so much.Suzy

I dont know the answer to that one. It hasnt happened to me. Do you and you partner talk about it. Does he know this happens? Maybe if he did then it would not be such a wrecker. Maybe a doctor could tell you. A GYN perhaps. Maybe the other ladies would have more info.

Thanks michelle.I have been thinking that since my excretory organs probably close during intercourse that maybe my bowels which are so sensitive may lock up so tight that it causes this problem.It kind of makes sense.I have an apt. w/my gatro dr. next week and guess I will ask him.
I was hoping someone here had the same reaction or some info.,but maybe I am just unusual in this situation.

I would assume intercourse would help you relax (for the moment, anyway  ) as it increases the release of horomones....However, Perhaps you are nervous now every time you have intercourse that it will make you more constipated that the stress of thinking about it actually makes you constipated (as stress is a major trigger)...

I think Mickey Mouse is on to something here. The whole process of sex and relaxing and contracting all our favorite muscles should be good on the whole body. 
I hesitated to respond to this post because I don't know anything about constipation; sometimes I wish I did. My problem is the exact opposite!

OK, I'm trying to think of how to type all this without getting too graphic. lol!
I have heard that sex can interfere with BMs - it's not the intercourse itself that's the problem, it's the O. Hmmmm, how can I explain this? Well, ya know generally you can only do one thing at a time - pee, or BM - but not both at the same time... sometimes you do both at one 'sitting' so to speak but in fact only one or the other happens at any given moment. Well it's something to do with the physical make up, I'm not sure but, maybe the muscles and so on contract/relax one way for one activity and a different way for another, and so on?
Anyway, when you O, if everything relaxed completely you'd most probably urinate or have a BM at the same time (not good!). Thankfully, that's not the case. So, obviously, there is some muscle tension there. In fact, all those organs go into conception mode: 'Yeah, a big O - let's conceive' and those vital organs and muscles go into overdrive, focusing on getting things where they ought to be in order for fertilisation to take place.....
(I seriously hope I'm making some sense here!!!)
So then, if you have the O when you were just working yourself up towards a BM, this could, in theory, delay matters for a while. Not good if you've already been suffering from C. But I'm not sure that it would have a regular or long-term effect on C.
Although you suffer from C, it might be helpful to bear this process in mind - try to work out when you think you might be due to have a BM (ie is there a certain time of day or whatever you might be more inclined to go). I suffer from C but can sometimes work out that I'm building up towards a BM later that day.
So the idea is, if you usually go in the morning, but you have a trouble going, avoid the O until you've actually been. My only other advice would be to make best use of the time when you have had a BM and feel relieved?!!! It's unlikely to hinder you much then.

Yep, that's what I was thinking too.
Muscles controlling such and both.
I like the idea of doing after the BM.That makes a lot of sense.Even though I usually do that in the am.By evening I think my body is in the mode to get ready for the morning.I'll have to see if this idea works.It sure beats where I am,ready to give it up.I about decided that I just didn't need it,that it wasn''t worht the pain and problems.Thanks

I don't come on the board super often, but I wanted to tell you that you are not alone! but I sometimes have the opposite reaction to you, ie sex make me want to go...
what I found helpful is to be talk to your partner and take it slow
if I am stressed that I will fart or have to go, it makes it worse
so sometimes you just gotta move on to something else than intercourse (and I ain't refering to rading or watching tv if ya know what I mean! ) and start up again when you feel good and ready
