I have suffered from IBS-Alternating D/C for about 30 years. I manage it thru diet, caltrate, and lomotil (as needed). The only thing I haven't contained is the urgency and needing a restroom NOW. I tried fibers in the past to no luck, but decided to try the FODMAP diet and also Heather's Fiber. I am now up to 1 Tablespoon twice a day of the acacia fiber and still have the urgency. I feel like I have stabilized my cramps, back aches, and bloating thru the diet and amount of food I eat. However, I can't seem to get the bowels regulated to not be urgent and regular. My bowels seems to want to just empty a bit each morning and then after a few days of fiber, empty with multiple bathroom visits until I am empty. I don't consider this stable. Should I be satisfied I have the "worse cramps in the world" under control, or do you think I can still get my BMs under control? I don't take any probiotics.
