Do people find that adding a tablespoon of ground flax seed to something is safe?

Hey there,
I see you've tried the all soluble acacia. You are mild diarrhea prone still? It could cause you problems with too much insoluble.Taking the all soluble fiber cushions the colon from spasms and helps tolerate some insoluble foods. My big issue mainly is pain, and would hate to see it cause you more pain too. What about the all soluble with no excess gas methylcellulose in the caplet form w no citric acid or sweeteners of any kind that is unfortunately in the mix. The generic caplet is so much cheaper too.

Generally speaking flaxseed contains 35-45% fiber of which 2/3 is insoluble and 1/3 soluble. Bob's flaxseed meal is an example of a ground flaxseed product available in the US. If you read the text they say a 2 tablespoon serving (13 grams) contains 1.33 grams (10%) of soluble fiber and 2.67 grams (21%) of insoluble fiber. It can be problematic for some individuals while others can handle it. You might speak to your diet advisors and see what they suggest.

Thanks so much for your suggestions. I tried the ground flax yesterday, and you are right, it did cause problems. So I think I will take a shot at Heather's acacia again as it has been a long time since I tried it, and if that isn't okay, I will take your suggestion to try the methylcellulose tablets: are you saying that you CAN get them without citric acid or sweeteners? Thanks again, Linda

Yes, because in the tablet form it doesn't need sweetener and doesn't have citric acid (that can bother upper gi for some). Look for the generic form of methylcellulose "CAPLETS." Sorry, originally I called them tablets, which I corrected.
