How many have had an almost embarrasing experience with IBS..

I was waiting to pick my son up from school in a car pool line when I felt the rumbling in my belly and thought oh no not again. I debated whether to run in the school to go or not but my 2 year old was asleep in the back seat. I just waited for my son and cruised on home to go! My biggest fear is not getting to a bathroom on time. I'm pretty sure I know what caused the problem. I ate at Appleby's last night, had salmon, rice, veggies which was good but split a blonde brownie with vanilla ice cream for dessert and coffee! I felt fine until this morning. Off and on all day with the runs.

Oh well...I'll learn I guess!

You are so not alone....I have had to use a MEN's washroom (Mags just reminded me of this today) because the woman's was full and I HAD to go now!!!

I think we have all been there. I have also been going down a highway with no bathrooms for an hour and I had to stop about 3 times. And you have to understand in Sasky it is all flat for miles and miles...there is no hills to hide behind so I had to go behind an old barn. LOL

You are not alone!!!

One of my first episodes with IBS was 15 miles from home, during an awful snow storm, and no place had a public rest room. I ended up going in to a convenience store and sneaking around to the back to use the "employee only" bathroom. I figured they would appreciate not having to clean up after me- because I could not wait any longer!

Oh yes, I've had embaressing situations too. I think we all have! Once, when I was first starting with IBS and didn't yet know my limitations, I was out for a day-trip with some friends. We stopped for dinner, where I had lasagna with alfredo sauce, and then afterwards went out for ice cream. Knowing what I know now I cringe just thinking about it! Anyway, like clockwork I also heard those familiar rumblings and had to dash to a nearby public restroom. There I sat for who knows how long while my friends had to wait outside. I realized soon after that that dairy products were not my friends!

Hahaha Remembering my embarrassing moments make me laugh now but i sure wasn't at the time!! I think the worst for me was being stuck in a traffic jam on the highway, nowhere near an exit and ended up going behind a bush. While i was squatting there, i guess another car decided to pull off the road and let his dog out to go to the bathroom also. Dog came almost right up to me and i was afraid the owner was going to follow it and get a nice surprise! LOL He never walked over to where i was, not sure if it was the job of my dad telling the guy i was the there or just pure luck, but oh was i relieved...at least it wasn't snowing and as cold as it is right now brrrrr (-20 degrees C)!!! =)

This reminds me of our friend, "Beautiful Bill" (my hubby kids me about him all the time). Bill was SOOO gorgeous -- he'd charm the pants of anyone! -- One sunny afternoon in Northern California, Beautiful Bill was doing the same thing as you, Jules, when a gorgeous blonde came by on horseback, trotting right up to him. Most men would be embarrassed -- I would think -- but oh no, not Beautiful Bill! He just looked up her on that horse, smiled that incredibly gorgeous smile of his, showing his pearly-whites, with his pants down around his ankles, and said, "Nice day for a horseback ride, eh?!?"

Oh boy, back in grade school and high school when I had NO CLUE I had anything wrong with me, I would pig out on anything and everything...and suffer the consequences! I have had horrifying experiences (think public water park, wave pool, eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwww) and other wonderfully fond memories. My family was incredibly cheap (okay, so they prefer the term "thrifty") and always ate at buffets....which I have nightmares about to this day. I can't count the times I had near accidents on the side of the road from overeating at Country Buffet or chinese. Gosh, and to think no one ever suspected anything! I thought pulling over on the side of the road to take a dump cuz you couldnt hold it anymore was normal Once in high school I was in Indiana visiting a friend for Christmas, and we went to go see christmas lights after eating at a buffet....oooooh my, that was the worst, there were no trees or no bushes, just a bunch of headlights shining on me. Luckily it came out right quick, so I didnt end up with a frozen bum! (something like 40 below....yikes) I kinda laugh now, to think what it looked like in the daylight the next day to a passing pedestrian...sick humor! IBS will do that to you.
