Hello everyone, I am new to the board. Heather I just received your book and it is wonderful!
I found the website a week ago. I have been dealing with IBSw/c symptoms for over five years. I have been through all tests listed in your book plus many others. I am scheduled for exploratory surgery in March to rule out any adhesions or endometriosis. My symptoms have been so severe the GI doctor has hinted at disability from my job. I refuse this! He has me on Zelnorm and Robinul, they do not offer much relief. So far your diet has eased my symptoms. I have been on it for four days but feel I am going to have to limit myself to just a few safe foods to get everything under control. Suggested diets in the past have included many of the trigger foods. This is all a new learning experience but I am excited that I have found something I believe will work for me. I have been out to restaurants twice since finding help on your website. Each was more than happy to make changes I requested to dishes on the menus. It is the first time I left a restaurant in a long time without needing something for pain!

Welcome! Glad you found us and Heather, isn't she great?!

I am also IBS C, remember not to elimenate all insoluble fiber from your diet, I made this mistake when I first started. I thought since they can be triggers to just stay away totally and I would feel better. I was WRONG! My constipation get worse. Others have made this error as well, so remember-you still need insoluble fiber, just be careful when and how much you eat. If you have any questions or concerns, let us know!

Thanks for the welcome Mags & Michele. I am using brown rice cakes, a few insoluble fiber fruits/veggies that I know are safe for me, and lots of soluble fiber supplements. I love the Acacia powder. I use it four times a day and so far have added it to my peppermint tea or soy yogurt. It is the best supplement I have ever used. Hopefully in a few weeks I will have things under control where I can add more trigger foods into my diet.

Hi, "Cy"!

Wow, you sure "got into it" fast! I'm impressed. It took me years to get to the point where you are in such a short period of time. Good for you!

I especially like how you dealt with eating out -- I gotta admit, I haven't gotten there yet -- but I'm working on it.

Anyway, welcome -- you've come to the right place!

Bev

Hello, cymoon! I'm so glad the diet has been working for you so far. It has certainly done wonders for most of us here! Welcome to the boards, and feel free to ask any questions as they come up!
