I am wondering if anyone has removed gluten from their diet and had success in their symptoms. I am not celiac, but have been wondering after reading a lot about the symptoms of gluten sensitivity and sounds like it could help. Anyone have any experiences or thoughts?

There is a lot of confusion about gluten and IBS. Recently individuals with self-reported non-celiac gluten intolerance were first put on a low FODMAP diet and then pure gluten was introduced. No effects of gluten were found. It is thought that the fructans - a FODMAP - found in wheat is the problematic constituent not gluten. The recommendation is to go on a low FODMAP diet first which is far less onerous than a gluten free diet.

Interesting articles. Thanks for posting. Do you have any thoughts on Spelt? The University of Monash advise that sourdough spelt bread is allowed on the FODMAP diet but make no mention of spelt bread baked with bakers yeast.

I cannot eat spelt. I has a lot of insoluble fiber about 9-11% by weight. It is nearly the same a whole wheat flour.

Hi SLy I was reading about the FODMAP and came across a ratings of tea and that Fennel tea came out as a bad tea for FODMAP. I was searching about Chai at the time, wondering if it was safe to drink. The ingredients seem simple but when I read that Fennel is not good, I got alarmed, I use Fennel with success. Your thoughts?

There are 5 FODMAP groups. One need not have problems with all of them. The FODMAP group to which fennel belongs may not be a problem for you. Fennel in any form is a trigger for me.

Tips on Tea for the FODMAP crowd
HIGH FODMAP teas:
Fennel tea
Chamomile tea
With the total FODMAP cut off per meal being 0.5 gram, Chamomile tea hit the 0.8 g mark in one serving of tea and Fennel had a bit more!

That's peculiar. Why would the tea be listed as high FODMAP while the vegetable is considered low FODMAP?
