Hello All,
Yesterday was a VERY frustrating day for me! I had to drive 40 miles each way to a speech therapy appointment and I had to pee EVERY damned hour!! I had to stop at gas stations and again at a JC Penney store while shopping!!
I am still peeing very frequently today. Has anyone else ever experienced this? Is it related to my IBS?
Thanks Much!

Water retention can happen during an IBS flare-up causing one to need to frequently urinate a day or two later.

Thanks Syl!
I feel I may have a lot of backed up stool in my lower intestine that is causing my bladder to feel "crowded", thus causing the frequent urinating??
I will ask my gastro doc this tomorrow!!

Syl,
How does this water retention happen??
What has happened to me is on the last two days I have had a bowel movement (I am going every other day now), I always have to pee very frequently and sometimes have urges where I feel I will have another BM, but I don't.
Do you think this is the result of constipation, and the backed up stools are just pressing on my bladder?
I am IBS-C, and am up to about 6 teaspoons of Acacia fiber now per day.
I take prescription Prilosec for acid reflux and I think that is giving me a LOT of gas.
Any thoughts or suggestions for coping would be VERY MUCH appreciated!!
Thanks SO much in advance!!!

Unfortunately, I don't know the answer. This sounds like a good question for your GP. Good work with the Acacia - sounds like it is working for you.

I have had tests for UTIs twice in recent months and my GP really doesn't know what to do about this issue, unfortunately!
I think it is related to the IBS and constipation. One of my husband's friends has a wife with IBS and SHE suffers from very frequent peeing too!!
I have Googled this problem, trying to solve it on my own, but so far, NO luck!
Thanks for your feedback!

Maybe it's just because you drink more and eat more sf. It has more water in It?

One of the side effects of Prilosec is the frequent need to urinate. But I did go through this many years ago, way before I had IBS. Went to a urologist and had tests....found nothing. It eventually went away. Was in a habit and mindset of running to the bathroom all the time. Had to retrain my bladder.

Here is a link explaining how to retrain the bladder. I was going to a therapist and this is the method she used with me. http://www.ehow.com/how_2074600_retrain-bladder.html
