HI All, I have IBS-D and had my gallbladder out on April 4th which made my IBS-D much better but made my GERD much worse ... do the gastro doctor doubled my prilosec to twice a day ... she said it would take a couple months for the GERD to settle back down after the gallbladder surgery ... I have been on the doubled dose of Prilosec in August ... and now today I have the worst GERD I think I have ever suffered ... what do I do ... would the fennel tea help? I know peppermint tends to my my GERD a bit worse ... I feel terrible ... could there be something a doc needs to check ASAP

As someone with severe GERD, I can certainly relate. Once you are in a flare of reflux, it usually does take a bit to settle down, that said if you are still experiencing severe symptoms in a month or 2 it should be addressed by the doctor.
Keep taking the Prilosec twice a day. In between, Gaviscon Extra Strength tablets should help. They are in the antacid section at the grocery store and are far superior to other antacids like Tums. You can take them several times a day (just not with the Prilosec). Also, stay away from any bit of tomato/tomato sauce, citrus, vitamin c (in vitamins or as a food additive), chocolate, cocoa powder/flavor, coffee and peppermint. Don't eat 3 hours before bed, and sleep on an incline on your left side. All of these things should hopefully provide some relief.
-------------------- IBS A (more D than C). Severe GERD & Hiatal Hernia as well.
"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
