For the past few days, I've been taking DayQuil and Nyquil to help get over a cough and cold. I've been having more pronounced abdominal pain and stomach pain since. Initially, I thought that it was due to a couple of pasta meals I had, but the pain still persists a few days later and I'm still taking the medicine. I've also been more constipated.
Could it be some or one of the ingredients/inactive ingredients? I've posted the list below.
I supposedly have fructose malabsorption, although I've not been able to see any changes by adjusting my diet. But, it seems clear that those meds have an impact on my symptoms somehow.
Inactive Ingredients D&C Yellow No. 10, FD&C Blue No. 1, gelatin, glycerin, polyethylene glycol, povidone, propylene glycol, purified water, sorbitol special, titanium dioxide

Sorbitol is a sugar alcohol/artificial sweetener. It is a well-known IBS trigger and it is particularly bad for individuals with fructose malabsorption.

Syl,
Thanks for your response. I had noticed the Sorbitol special and wondered if it was in a high enough dose to cause problems, since it is listed under inactive ingredients.
Do you have any thoughts on this?
Now that I think about it, the low-sugar jam I use has the coloring Red 40 which from my readings is not exactly a good thing.
Thanks again!

I cannot handle sorbitol at all. You might stop the Nyquil and see how it goes.
