Cramps and D...help

I frequently alternate between IBS-C/D and bloating.
Rarely do I get cramps.

Last weekend however I started to get cramps and needed pepto.
On Tuesday I had extra lean ground turkey; and had violent cramps and d afterwards. The turkey was bad.

Since I have been having either no BMs or D; and have had mild cramping more than I can recall.

I saw a doctor who did not think it was an infection or any lingering bacteria issue. Instead she thought the meal on Tuesday triggered a really bad reaction and thinks the symptoms will subside a week from ingestion; around Tuesday. Till then I should eat bland, and take as needed (best before meals...up to four times a day) hyoscyamine and pepto.

I wanted to ask:

1) Should I follow this advice? I am VERY weary of taking medicine because when I take Pepto, for instance, it backs me up and bloats me.
-How big an issue is this with hyoscyamine?
uld work just as well without side effects (pepogest?)

Yes - the advice your doctor gave is good. It is best to follow it. The pepto will only help if you are still having D. Pepogest may or may not be effective in this case.
