So I spoke to my GI doctor and he recommended psyllium for my IBS-C. He said 10g twice daily.

Ive been taking metamucil and didn't find it done alot. But now ive realized each dose is only 3.4g??

So that means you'd have to take 3x dosages at a time to get to the 10g that the doctor recommended!

Is that right? The instructions say don't exceed the normal dosage.

Welcome to the board,

If the doctor says 10 grams 2x a day then ignore the instructions on the label. You can buy psyllium in generic form in a large bottle. Also, the packages tend to have other ingredients like dyes, flavors and sugar. Each Metamucil package contains 9 grams of sugar. The Metamucil Original doesn't contain any sugar or dyes. One teaspoon contains 5.4 grams of psyllium.

Good luck
