Believe it or not...I have been seeing my Gastro Dr for 2 years and escaped the dreaded Colonoscopy (had 2 upper GI's though.) Now however since I seem to have gotten so much worse even after having my gallbladder out, he wwants to do both ends at once (so to speak.) I am terrified of what that prep will do to me. Has it thrown any one into a huge attack??? I am going on my second week of happy tummy days...I do not want to go back....it sound awful...(I know i am a huge baby..but I cannot help it...) I am trying to devise ways to get out of it..I think I would rather not eat at all for 2 weeks that have to take all those laxatives....(I mean I've gone that long without solid food several times anyway...)

Hi. I was in the hospital with an attack, before I knew I suffered with IBS, and was too nauseous to do prep so they gave me 2 Dulcolax tablets the day before and one enema that night and one the morning of. Not a picnic by any means but I had the prep for another colonoscopy and it was hell. The Dulcolax was a breeze by comparison.

I feel for you and hope you can talk your doc into this. I was 2 days without food also. Clear liquids.

Good luck!

Mary

Hi,

I just had a colonoscopy on Friday. The procedure itself is a piece of cake. They put you out for it...so there's no discomfort. The night before though was not pleasant but not dreadful. I drank two citate of magnesia and three pills. ( over a 3 hour period) I probably went over 25 times and after awhile all you are going is water stuff. Sorry...TMI! But then you're done and then you don't go for about two days afterwards. I'm normal now kind of.

It's really not that bad.
Good luck!
Sandy

Angel, my colonoscopy was a snap. They gave me marvelous drugs -- sure wish I knew what they were -- I WANT MORE! -- they really knocked me out. When I woke up, it was all over -- I hugged everyone there, then floated out the door, arm-in-arm with my hubby. Okay, so the prep the day before was awful -- no one wants to poop all day and all night, all the while swallowing more and more laxative, knowing it's just gonna make them poop even more -- and on and on -- but it's only ONE DAY, then bingo bango it's all over.

No one could be more of a baby than I when it comes to pain. I have a VERY low threshhold, Girlfriend! I put off that colonoscopy for YEARS because of it. Now, looking back, I think about what a waste those years were!

Good luck,
Bev.
